Nighthawk R7000 dual band wireless router.
    Latest firmware

Even though both bands show up I can not connect any devices to the Ghz 5.0 band. They will only
    connect to the 2.4 band.

My router keeps loosing ip configeraton and I get this message "network does not have a valid IP Configeration". The only thing I can do to correct this and get back on the internet is to reset the router by
means of the reset button. This get's me back on the internet but still can't connect to 5.0Ghz band.
Then later on it will loose ip configuration again and I have to do he same thing (reset) router.

Anyone have any idea what my problem is. Just started doing this yesterday.

    Thanks

The Network Interface Controller (NIC) on the device your trying to connect may not support the 5Ghz band.
It may also be responsible for intermittent connections.......it may not be the routers fault?
Im assuming DHCP is set to 'Auto'?

You would need to let us know some specifications about the system your trying to connect to the NightHawk!

Sorry, is it over WiFi that your trying to connect, or is your network landscape connected over ethernet?

Apparently this is a well-known problem with the Nighthawk R7000.
Here's one thread I found with 434 posts
    https://community.netgear.com/t5/Ni...4GHz-wireless-connectivity/m-p/1432327#M72406

There are others but I figured perhaps the largest thread would give more ideas.

Changing the firmware appears not to help because there are problems with different versions of the firmware.

Here is a solution, old, but perhaps it will help eliminate the drops.

The power light and land port 3 and 4 are flashing orange.
The internet light, 2.4, 5.0, and land port 1(my desktop) are white, land port 3 and 4 are flashing orange but I have checked the
devices on 3 and 4 and they are working properly.

    Hope this helps

OK so at least we now know your trying to connect an iPhone to a guest network that shares the same SSID, on dual bands?
Not all dual band devices behave the same way, and some device software does not cope well with a single SSID for both frequencies.
Known devices with issues include Apple iPhone 5, Apple TV, some android phones and X-box.

These issues are sometimes solved by having different network names (SSID's) for the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz bands.

If you have admin access to the router, this is easily achieved through config @ the gateways browser interface!

    Worth a shot

Man, now we have got paydirt. I changed to 4 different network names. 2 separate ones for my regular 2.4 bands and then 2
separate but different network names for the 2.4 guest and 5.0 guest bands.

This is example of how they now show. I will not show the actual name but merely a fake one for security reasons:

    2.4 regular network
    goosy
    P/W gobbler3

    5.0 regular network

    2.4 guest network
    gobbler-Guest
    P/w goosy 1

    5.0 guest network
    turkey-guest
    P/W crowfoot3

Now all 4 networks show up on my IPhone and I can connect to any one of them.

This is entirely different instructions on how to set them up from their manual or set up or anything I have read. BUT it
    works.

    Thanks for your help.
    Tom
