I was told by an iphone repair shop that the non-Iphone cords(even if they are certfied by apple)
damage the battery by charging at a wrong "frequency/power(\(I forgot what term he used)

can anyone recommend a cord I can use or do i HAVE to by apple $$ to not hurt my phone?

Find a new repair shop. They are either ignorant or dishonest, perhaps both.

I bought 2 cables from a mini-kiosk in a convenience/ gas-beer store. 1 for my truck and one for my home pc. About 6 months in using so far and my phone acts no different.

    Reason way i don't like apple phones.Repair shop's charge a arm and a leg or two.Just for a repair.

If my android breaks i just buy a new one for cheaper price from wall mart. And all my cords work with android phones.

that's why I like these guys,
they are cheapest by at least 20%(estimate) of any shop I call around too.
and they dont tell me to come back the next day, they need 1-2 hours and it's done.

]The issue I had was my iphone battery showed
    settings
    ba ttery
    battery health
    max capactiy 82%
which is why it had to be charged so much?( they told me)
they replacepd my battery($40) and now it;s at 99%(4 weeks later)

so how do I prevent that Number(max capactiy) from dropping?
-I now only charge when it's below 20 % and I try to let it charge to 90% + without talking on it, although will play games

Sound more like a charging issue with a connection some where on the mother board of the phone.

Did or have you dropped your phone in the last couple of months.

Edit: you can probably send your phone to this guy Louis Rossmann on youtube. He fix's apple phones and laptops for a living.https://rossmanngroup.com/

You can't. All batteries degrade over time.

yeah, I did, that was the reason I took it in
but I was also having issues with the battery being dead all the time and Iphone health said it was at 80% or so, so I told the guy to replace the battery,

I've had this 6s for 2 years last month. Have 1688 photos on it. Much music. Never delete any email or messages. I have to take photos of sales receipts for any purchases to send in to verify purchases, photo of any cut-sheet for fab shop work and I have never deleted any of it since I started using it. I use the chargers I mentioned already. This phone stays on 24/7 and the battery has never shown any signs of a problem.

Plugged it into my pc @ 7:30 was 85%. Ten minutes later it's @ 90%. I'll see how long to get full charge.

    15 minutes it's 93%.

Maybe you just had an unluckily bad battery before.

I do every so often clean the contacts with a pencil eraser.

Just looked and I think it's my other personal phone I clean the contacts on, not this 6s. At 30 minutes it's 96%.

One hour charging shows 100%. Generic vanilla cable. Hopefully you got a good battery with your purchase!

The speed of charging Has to do with the cord, not the battery

I have a iphone 6s that I used before getting the 6s+,, that I only use for games and watching videos/etc

I used a generic cord available anywhere. The battery is what came with the 6s. I haven't bought anything special.

Sorry for any misunderstanding. I was just trying to show that a cable from anywhere does just fine. Hope you save some $$ in the long run.

On a side note...I hate the 6s as far as music or video goes. We have tracphones and straight talk lumina's here that are much better for less than 100$. I only have the 6s because it's company issued.

    similar reasoning here
My friend has an android and he does so much with it, so easily...more freedom with the OS, and I'mnot even a computer guy, i just watch him do shit with ti

I have cheap cables, thats why when the repair shop told me no cord has a frequencey that apple cords had, I thought, why not? just measure the cords and copy it, sell via walmart
    BUT
Ive had times when my phone will only charge with an apple cords...so well, I posted here...cause the only apple cord i have is the one that came with the phone!
apple cords are like 45 bucks and on apple are 4
    hmmmmm

I don't know why but I've had times when I plug the cable in, but the phone doesn't show the green charging mode right away. If I flip it over and plug it in again the charging starts instantly. I thought the connector was universal but maybe not.

Connect the phone to the PC to charge the battery.
    @Imandy Mann does the same.
I have used my phone's charger a handful of times in 3 years.

    i'm a bit lost?
use any iphone cable, connect it to the computer and then the phone, so it charges?

    Why am I doing that?
how is that better than using a wall or car to charge a phone?

I do use Imazing to back my phone up like once a year...
