Dvd Burner Broken?

So, I think my burner is broken, since yesterday I can't burn dvds anymore. It can read dvds that I've burned but very slowly and it takes forever for the drive to determine whats on the disc (at least 2-3min). I checked via CDCheck and the max it read was 5x speed and started at 3x.
Just to let you know I have 2 dvd burners, one LG and the other one a Samsung. The one with an issue is the LG. The same dvd that was tested I did in the other one and it started at 7x and went up to 11x.
I have 2 burners because I have different brands of discs and some are better in the LG one while others are better in the other one. I will be asking 2 technical questions a bit later since something has been bugging me for quite some time
When I try to burn it starts as it should but never quite goes anywhere. It starts spinning but stops and its sorta making wierd sounds. Its like a "clicking" sound. Honestly when u put a disc in it always kinda makes a sound and then it starts with the spinning and in that time the drive determines whats what (is it blank or has files on it) - thats how it should be but know it just doesn't get over that first hurdle.
I've uninstalled the driver, checked in regedit (I googled a bit my issue) in that folder but didn't have any lower or upperfilters.
Its not my program (its uptodate) because I can burn the files onto a dvd in my other burner. Firmare is uptodate.
I've sprayed with my Dusterspray, that hasn't helped. I've bought one of those cleaning cds - the disc that has a brush on it for the lens. I'll try that to see if that helps but honestly not holding out hope there.
Is there anything else I could try? Or do u people think it's had it??
LG is from 2016 and the samsung is from 2013. Not sure if this is relavant but I'm running Win 10 pro 64bit.

SOOO now to my questions that have bugged me for a couple of years... I know, I'm really fast ;)
Ok, I burn a dvd in the lg one (I also always check the disc afterwards) and it does only 3.8x speed (so kinda slow) so I redo it. The verification was a success. Same files same brand of disc in the same burner but this time it's done 10.8x speed (for example). Why is that???? This has happened with both of my burners.

The other question is more or less the same situation but the verification failed. So burnt in lg (or samsung one) and the error message says something like the files aren't original copies and/or the brand of disc isn't compatible with the driver. Yet if I burn the same files with the same brand of disc again in the same burner, it has worked... That is really annoying because of the discs that then are wasted.

When I burn I do try to do nothing.
SOOOOOOO sorry for the long message!!!!

I presume that this is a desktop pc rather than a laptop...

What CD/DVD burning software are you using as you do not say....

This sounds like a hardware failure to me. I have had a few go with me and what you say sounds similar.

Given that DVD burners are so cheap why not get another one of the similar make and model on fleebay.....

As to your 2 last questions, I have no idea. Again, since you do not state what burning program you use, it's difficult / impossible to make any suggestions.

oh sorry for not mentioning that.
I have been using Ashampoo Burning studio 6 Free for nearly 10 years now. Any yes its a desktop pc.
Just to make sure I swapped the cables and its not any of the cables coz the samsung worked but the lg still didn't work. I had that issue once quite some years ago I just needed a new sata plug.
I also do have 2 other burning programs installed but really never use them. From Ashampoo Burning Studio Free. No number there I think it come out after number 6 and also I think its a different software from them because on their site one still can get Burning studio 6 Free with updates here and there.... and the other one is BurnAware free. I've tried all 3 programs and its the same issue with the lg burner.
Yeah, I think I need to buy a new one.

yes, in the past I've had multiple problems with burners.. that's why I love this forum - it helps me fix things!!!
in 2014 was the first issue with the LG GH24NS95. The first time I did that fixit since I still was on XP which worked and when it happened again a few weeks later that fixit didnt work. The issue there was that somehow the sata cable wasn't probably seated. I still replaced the sata cable (from device to mainboard) just in case and it worked with no problems until 2016 - when I opened another thread with an issue (after re-reading it) it wasn't "seeing" empty dvd discs anymore so I bought a new dvd burner - now I have LG GH24NSD1 - which is the one with the problem now.... It's similar but as I remember from 2016 it did nothing after closing with an empty dvd disc in it, now it makes alot of noise and takes 3-4 min until its seen.. u know in explorer at the top is a loading bar, its where it says "my PC" for example well u can watch the green bar move really really slowly from left to right. And also in that time if u pressed the open drawer button it also doesn't open directly that takes time to.

A friend once said "the newer the technology is the faster it craps out" and I have to agree with that. I see it in alot of devices they dont last as long anymore... its sad but what can u do?!

Well, as mentioned I've bought one of those cleaning discs, I'll try that but if it doesn't work I'll just have to buy a new one.

I also had a problem with an LG DVD RW drive.
After the agents couldn't fix it, I returned it and bought a Sony DVD RW DRU-840A.
It's in perfect working order more almost 12 years!

I have never used Ashampoo Burning studio 6, so cannot comment.

Have you tried another using another burning program eg IMGBurn (one of the best free ones imo) to see if the error is replicated.

IMGBurn I tried to use a few years ago but it wasn't user friendly for me... Programs need to be simple for me.
I just got myself a new burner and everything works again.. Sometimes there's a fix but sometimes the item is just broken and needs replacing.

On a different topic but still concerning burners. ;)
is there a free program one can add files/folders into and it calculates the optimal way to organize the files to use the minimum number of DVDs (otherwise the empty space left in each DVD can easily add up).
