We have two of these HP laptops in our home. Both connected wirelessly through router to Canon MX492 printer, and working flawlessly for 5 months. Three days ago mine failed to print, while hers still works fine. With Canon I went through possible/probable problems and solutions. I uninstalled Canon on my computer and went to install again from online Canon source with their help. We found and verified that its IP4 address was 192.168.1.120, but entering that in my browser produced "unable to connect", etc. When attempting to install new drivers the laptop fails to find the printer even tho printer is on and wirelessly connected to the router and works with the other laptop. Fix is beyond Canon help, as all of it is working. Suggestions for solving this dilemma appreciated.

What do you mean by 'attempting' to install drivers?
Can you see the Canon listed under Control Panel > Devices & Printers?

Do you have a printer CD?
    If so, go here

and scroll down to the picture of the laptop with a CD in the tray and start setup from there. (All the above information - connecting wirelessly to a router has been done and is working). Then after it runs, scroll down to step 5.

When I went to re-install the printer I discovered that my installation CD was sitting safely in a drawer in my desk 120 miles away so that is why I had to go to the internet to get the online setup from Canon and while using it (more than once) I could not get it to "find" my Printer. It was not there to be seen or found. For that to occur it had me go through the connecting procedure and seeking a printer that had yet to be installed. A chicken and egg situation. After my plee to Geeks I finally tried using a USB connection to bypass the wireless method and was finally able to get the software to install the printer so that it showed up in the control panel, and am finally able to print. Thanks to both of you for your responses and offers to assist. The next chore tomorrow will be to convert the wired connection back to wireless. Thanks again.
