Hi there and thank you in advance. This afternoon I tried booting my computer and I saw a quick BSOD and then a windows failed to start and recovery window. I tried the repair and still got the same thing. I wasn't able to boot in safe mode as well, nor was I able to do a system restore from the bios. I put in the win cd and choose repair and it worked. However, I noticed my clock was off. Not sure if there is any other diagnostics I should perform just in case. I am running win 7 ultimate 64 bit. Attached are some pics 62962336_2264405830541982_3819259527203651584_n.jpg 62368625_2030770110564394_5917285243810742272_n.jpg 62962336_2264405830541982_3819259527203651584_n.jpg 62368625_2030770110564394_5917285243810742272_n.jpg 62473179_836335400076439_6790508127230885888_n.jpg

There seemed to be an update from our friends at Microsoft, yesterday- my W7 ultimate x64 updated O.k, but worth thinking about, as a possible cause, as it took a while to install on mine.
Operating system not found can be boot config/ actual disc failure/ bad download for update, to give most obvious

This was the update- thee dreaded monthly ones we get (O.K , IF YOU JUST CHECK YOU HAVE A RESTORE POINT IN THE 'OLDER Windows 7')

I still get an error after rebooting the comp. Seems like it's trying to boot from another drive.

I opened windows update. I haven't dL this update (KB4503292) yet. I have my settings set for me to choose which updates I install. Are you saying this is the cause or I should dl this update?

I was able to do a sys restore, but getting same issue and clock time is not correct.

Wrong date-----CMOS BATTERY - -----Most likely needs to be replaced

I would get it running as is, rather than download the update, as yet.
I missed the date bit, earlier - but Cmos batteries are very cheap, and easy to install

I think I may have found the issue. Yesterday my comp said something about one of my other drives ( which is an internal storage drive)
I just unplugged that drive and rebooted. No issue except the time was off. I went into clock settings and updated internet time. Rebooted and restarted 4 x with no issue. Seems like there is a conflict with the storage drive.

Should I continue with the link you provided or is there something that I need to change so the conflict with this drive is removed? Pls advise.

If there was an operating system on that second harddrive, it could cause the error,- then you would choose which drive to start system (I wondered about that when seeing your first picture)
Otherwise, Having a second drive would confuse a system, but usually only when faulty- It would be worth running CHKDSK /R on that other hard drive, now it is running ok, shut down and reconnect, and see if it starts ok-
if so, then run CHKDSK /R
CLICK My Computer Right-click on the Start icon.Click Open Windows Explorer. On the left side of the window, click Computer. At the Hard Disk Drives section, right-click on the volume you want to check for errors. Click on Properties.Go to the Tools Tab. At the Error-checking section click Check now.

Cheers mate...will check. I have never installed an OS on that drive. Just a storage drive. I did replug it and the problem came back. I will replug again and do the chkdsk

0xF4's are quite likely to be drive-related.

What do you suggest? I think I figured out the chkdsk and it's still scanning the storage hd. Should I delete windows program files that are on that drive after the scan? Is there a way to disable the bios from trying to boot from this drive.

Wait for the results of the scan before moving to physical connection/SMART/firmware checks and 3rd party drivers loaded. Minidumps and MSiNFO32 data might be useful...

Check the Statuses for all drives in Device Manager (attach printscreen), location of paging files.

You have Programs installed to both drives? Disable any on the suspect drive from auto-starting at boot, (un)check them in MSConfig.

No bad sectors found. Here is a pic of the drive. There are program files on it.

Something like extra game libraries for Steam or GOG? Investigate please.

If you've had to reinstall Windows at some time, it's quite possible that it now looks at multiple drives for Boot data, disk status screenshot (like the 1st image there) and a zipped MSiNFO32.nfo file needed to check Path variables, loaded drivers, etc.

    Agreed.
Stop errors are 70%+ driver related.

If you, or, someone else has put your paging file on the second hard drive, as some do, then I would not delete any other files, in case....
To check the boot- go to MSCONFIG with main hard drive C: and 2nd hard drive disconnected
    upload_2019-6-15_20-35-33.png

Then shut down, and reconnect 2nd hard drive
Look again in the boot section as above, and if you see another addition here, then
Click Boot Tab, Click the OS you want to keep, the recovered Windows 7 Ultimate, and Click Set as default
Then the other system that showed up, after connecting the second hard drive probably also W7 as showed up during problem starting.
    Click on, and click delete
This will remove the second Windows 7 from the Windows Boot manager

I stupidly did something else earlier. I was trying to delete the windows folder from the other storage drive (the one that is trying to boot from (e drive). I tried to switch ownership from trusted installer to admin using this site https://www.google.ca/amp/s/helpdes...lete-files-protected-by-trustedinstaller/amp/

Near the end of it i was denied access. I tried to undue this and put back to trusted installer. Seems like it worked but now administrator is gone from the list of owners. I am getting denied access errors and one was a recycle bin error. I have everything on this drive backed up on another. If I have to reformat or something I can.

I would start another thread on this permissions issue, as you will get more help, without waiting so long.
My own preference, now, as you say you have a backup, would be to reformat this harddrive, NFTS ise otherwise.
But I tend to do some things the lazy, easier way.
Someone else may pick it up, and advise otherwise.

THanks Baklogic. I was thinking the same. I'm curious if the reason for the windows folders on the drive is some type of malware trying to creating a back up on that drive.

Is it possible that you had the second hard drive connected, when attempting to repair the operating system on the C: drive ?- I have seen problems like this , showing 2nd operating system, on original hard drive, but , if second hard drive was connected when attempting a fix, and you had somehow chosen the wrong hard drive to fix......

The funny thing is, these drives have been hooked up since I built it for more than 4 yrs now with no issues. I've never reinstalled/installed windows since. Not sure why there is an issue/conflict now.
