I was just reading this BBC news report and check this out............maybe I should have answered some of those Nigerian emails ;):(............a former Nigerian dictator's £210 million deposit was found in a Jersey bank account and seized. Sani Abacha was the dictator who was in power from 1993 until his death in 1998. It is believed that Abacha embezzled more than £2.2 billion from the Nigerian Central Bank. Over time he and after his death others transferred the embezzled money in smaller amounts out of the Nigeria to banks all around the world by setting up shelf companies linked to his own company Doraville. Now there is a team trying to follow the money trail to recover what is left of the embezzled funds.
Several countries including Switzerland, USA and Britain have already returned some very large deposits of stolen money to the Nigerian Banks after they discovered some of these deposits in their country's banking system. Investigations are ongoing to try to recover more of the embezzled money.

I don't want to be the one to say it but......maybe some opportunities have gone begging when everybody (me especially lol) thought they were just scam emails :rolleyes::eek:

You mean one of George C Parker's customers lolol https://theirishmob.com/george-c-parker-the-man-who-sold-brooklyn-bridge/

In the article I linked to, they have purportedly already recovered £210 million in a British bank account and they have found more deposits in the USA and also Switzerland ;)

The BBC wouldn't report fake news would they :rolleyes:o_O

Can't believe those Nigerian scams are still going after so many years! Remember years back some retirees lost their Superannuation (monies accumulated over the years to assist towards retirement - runs into the hundreds of thousands).

Hehehe yep.....that was me....but when I was playing the game I used several throwaway email accounts that I don't even check
Early on I checked a few accounts and either there were no replies or if there was a reply I was getting a malware or virus warning so I opened it in a VM sandbox and the malware was mostly stuff giving them admin access to your PC or keyloggers........lucky it was in a sandbox so they got nothing lol ;)

My joke to them was sending or registering all of their email addresses to numerous pron sites so they get bombarded with errr............esoteric material :) ........I know it isn't much of a deterrent but at least I am having a bit of fun at their expense
