It seems lately windows 10 problems with updates keep happening.

This will probably be the last time i try windows 10.Due to the on going issues.Windows updates seem to take forever even on a fast SSD.

Security issues still remain the same as i though in windows 10.

The Version 1903 release that Windows 10 builds with of end-of-service status will be forced updated to the latest version. This rule is essentially take-it-or-leave-it, meaning refusal, for instance, to get Version 1903 and stay with 1803 will automatically halt all succeeding security updates.

What a load of crap this is.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet

They probably will make another crappy OS system in the near future.I am starting to think windows ME is better then windows 10 lol.

Every time they try and make a windows update better,It seems to make it a lot worse.

I don't understand why Microsoft keeps trying to push windows 10 down every ones pie hole.I mean really a lot us all ready understand that windows 10 just sucks.Plane and simple.

I still use what comes on the machine when I get it. Of late I've found for sale 2 HP compac Elite 8000. One is a CMT, convertable mini tower, (believe me it is not mini, it's huge) and it's sister also an 8000 is a true small form factor. The huge one came with 7 pro and will stay with that. The small one came with 10 and will stay at whatever build (1803 probably).
It's the second 10 being used in the house. Neither on the net. so they will stay as bought. Seem to work okay for the users.

Windows is generally ok for most and from XP, VISTA (not so great), 7 (really a great OS), 8 and 10.

TBH Windows 10 has been pretty bombproof for me like Win7 was, random issues with Vista (mainly drivers) and 8 was ok-ish.

I haven't had problems with -any- Windows os,or even MSDOS when it was the standard.
But since I only have 1 mifi wifi access, bought in 5 gb amounts, the 10's here are not allowed on the net. If those users want to get Internet access, they are free to go ahead their own way.

Me too and issues have if any have been old hardware that was not really supported for a new OS.
But then I like tinkering in the older days I was a Microsoft MVP in Windows OS.

These days not got the time as day job is horrendiously busy and areas of my focus are AI in medical diagnosis, predominently opthalmology as my area, but I feel AI (in its broad sence, AI, BIG DATA, Machine Learing etc) has a place to sift out test positive for a condition/disease or not, then likely humans (me) would then further sift out those ?positives, in future we may only get whats needed to be treated URGENTLY!

Oh your broadband supplier would hate me as I'm in the 30+GB per month range as not only on PC but Netflix, BT TV and other online TV services, are used at home. Last 30 days was 33.25GB

Are you using 10 on any of the dedicated ( for research, or diagnosis). And if so do you have interruptions during use or even over-night when number crunching is being done on important tasks? Or can it be blocked until the machine is at idle?

We are on a few workstation high end PCs more server spec but no on interuptions, but in part we use Linux distros and Ubuntu on many, as dont need in 1st instance a GUI then this is better, once perfected the apps are ported to Windows and a user friendly GUI (or sort of user friendly), its a project in its own to try to develop an app to allow out medical images to be maniplated and data collected in one place, as at present we use 4 different machines and all have own GUI, much better if all would be in one.

Actually much better once we perfect it to have the 1 software part diagnose the eye condition and come up with possible treatment options, this is the goal.

I know this is an aside to Windows issues but this it good paper on what I look at in eye disease daily

Some of the discussion in your link is similar to what we have used in electronics and electronics. I have used the Time Domain Reflectometer to find kinks or breaks in cables (e
even buried) and have used a sound block to bounce waves through metal to identify defects at a distance to identify weak spots. .............

I never imagined something similar would be used in the nerves.......

My neurologist must find something similar for neuropathy............

Indeed bouncing either radio or light waves back can give loads of data, light in our case.
Yes in neurology I can see same tech being used, dont know off hand of usage but likely some.

We do in some instances of unknown visual loss and weirdly (hydroxychoroquine use as my latest screening clinic is dealing with) is electronic and signal https://www.reviewofophthalmology.com/article/multifocal-erg-in-practice

The last 2 sentences in that Forbes article stand out to me the most.......

"The time is fast approaching for hundreds of millions of Windows 7 users to upgrade their operating systems. But, as it stands, Microsoft is not doing a great job of convincing them Windows 10 should be their next destination."

The overall gist of this thread makes me wonder, after seeing how long people held on to XP, how long will people be still using '7?

My '10 systems haven't been affected because ....they don't get to go online!

I new they would try and screw over the public.....I bet they will be in hot water for this.

I mean is it just me or is Microsoft has gotten lazy lately.

I would not even trust NSA or CISA they are most likely trying to spy on you through windows 10.I keep my remote stuff disabled at all times. If you have windows 10 most likely it will be re-enabled.

You do understand Win7 isn't magically protected from the alphabet soup agencies, don't you? Make a phone call, go online, have a bank account, drive a car... anything more than living in a tarpaper shack in the woods, they can see it.

When a customer buys a new PC, I find it's faster and easier to:
    • Start PC for first time, fast forward through Cortana, do not connect to Internet, set up local account only.
    • Connect to Internet just long enough to receive "Windows is activated" message in SETTINGS > UPDATE > ACTIVATION
    • Insert USB with latest Win 10 build downloaded from Microsoft (zero manufacturer crapware added)
    • Boot from USB, delete existing partitions/auto create new ones, let the Windows installer finish.
Same thing if a Windows 10/8.1/8 OS is corrupted beyond recognition. Systems originally shipped with 10 automatically choose and reactivate the version that shipped with the PC. For 8/8.1, you can do a fresh install of 10 (must be exact same version (home 32, pro 64, etc.) and it will legally activate itself.

Through my experiences, I find that general users are scared and therefore critical about things they don't understand.

The OP has no idea about what should, or shouldnt be when it comes to windows10......he tries to preach about things he doesn't even use himself, and therefore doesn't properly comprehend.
He chooses to listen to the nay-sayers through Social Media and other network activity which shows a total lack of critical thinking in my book.

If you want to stay completely private, stay off the network and dont blame an OS you know very little about.

I know what Windows 10 does.I read up on the latest info and updates.

I stopped using it due to the fact the last update i had.Windows update,Started to delete files.Remember that one.I have never know-en windows to just randomly delete files. And on top of that i do have a fully licensed copy of windows 10.

And FYI for your information i was not the only one that had that issue.Others where all so getting files randomly deleted.

    Hmmp like i care lol....

I can re-install windows as many times as i want lol.

As a matter of fact i wipe windows around every 8 months or so due to the fact i have a heavy use.Takes me like 3 hours for a full re-install.But worth the fast response time.Instead or just doing a copy over like windows 10 does.I do a full format.Safer that way.

I very rarely get infected.I do this for security reasons.

Rep.... you should read/ help some of the members/ posters here in other forums...Software and Hardware.... that are having problems and issues with their Win 10 systems. Since 10 is widely adopted now, many of the post have to do with Win 10.

Surely your knowledge could be helpful/ beneficial.

I currently do around 4 clean installs per day for clients, regularly rebirthing old 4g ram, dual core laptops to run 10 from a clean bat.

No issues here.....in fact im most impressed by a 70 year old client who absolutely loves 10 and she kicks ass with it.
Swears she will never go back to 7.

I do stress here, it MUST be a clean install from a freshly deleted partitioned drive which is then re-instated as one.
Let the install of 10 create its own necessary partition for requirements.
An upgrade will simply not do.

Its critical to remember that with Win 10, you must let any updates run from shutdown and startup if connected to the net.

You must show patience with this procedure........when it says "Do not shutdown your PC", you must listen and head those words or you will stuff the whole show.

    :)
