I need the lightest, smallest computer I can get. I plan on using an external monitor, USB mouse & keyboard, but the built in accessories need to be functional for when I travel to Dallas Maker Space. In the interests of being light I do not want a CD or anything else that has weight (like a large display). I would like at least 8G RAM,and the fastest CPU I can reasonably get. HD is in the air.I currently have $160 saved (@ $20/mo), and am very patient. So, any advise?

    Avoid all of these

Why? They all come with a 32GB hard drive! That is inadequate to upgrade Windows 10 twice a year. Selling hardware with a hd that small and running Windows should be stopped.
You might need to settle for a heavier unit but with a much larger hard drive.

Before you buy anything, check the size of the hard drive.

What keyword search did you use?

    WTB used netbook?

Actually I was after Models, MFGs, with the best specs I might realistically be able to buy.

Another question to ask, What is the difference between a netbook and a notebook?

Dell actually has a very good answer on their web site: Laptop vs Netbook Comparison

I call my units netbooks because they don't have optical drives. We have 3 of them: a 7" eeepc (ASUS) and two 11.1" Acers. They are heavier than some netbooks because they don't have solid state drives. I'm planning on replacing the spinning drive with a ssd.

WTB used netbook? I haven't a clue what WTB means. I also would NEVER buy a used netbook/laptop. You have no idea how hard it was used. The battery might not hold a charge and if the video chip is on the way out, you have no video which means the device is useless. Parts can not easily be replaced. So basically, you'd be wasting your money no matter how economical the device seems.

MFGs again, I haven't a clue as to what that means.

I searched for light weight netbooks.
Again, we haven't a clue what lightest means. How many pounds?
    Smallest? 7" 8", 10" or 11" screen?

WTB = Want To Buy, Search engines have that abbreviation down cold. I only have one working side (right), So light weight is something I can pick up one handed and survive the occasional drop (under 1 foot, strokes suck). MFG = Manufacturer, found on many labels world wide.

Obviously I don't use search sites to post things I want to buy.

No guarantees on anything that is dropped no matter the distance. My husband went to catch his netbook. It didn't drop but he ended up breaking a key as he caught it. The key worked; it just wouldn't stay in place because the clip under it broke. We had to have the keyboard replaced.

I found two very expensive small, light-weight units. The units are 7", weigh a bit over a pound, run Windows 10, have FHD, 8GB RAM and have 128GB hard drives.

The company is GPD and the units are called pocket minis.

Major manufacturers like Dell, HP, Acer either make netbooks in a weight too heavy to carry with 1 hand (my 11.1" doesn't carry easily with one hand) or tablets. If the tablet runs Windows 10, chances are good that it only has a 32GB hd which is too small for Windows 10.

Good luck trying to find something that suits all your specifications.

I don't know about Wendy but I don't trust myself to carry an 11.6" netbook that weighs 2.2 pounds with one hand.

You need to go to brick and mortar stores and see if that size and weight is doable for you.
