One of the challenges I fight is what the stroke has done to my memory, it doesn't happen often, but I just forget random things. Usually what I had down pre-stroke is mine to keep. My question is the name of this thread. Is it <shift> right mouse click? I only have one working hand(right), so I'm hoping it's something simple.<ALT> <CNTL> <DEL> is bad enough.

Not sure I understand...but if you want to delete a file or image, etc. just right click it and select delete.

Depends on your keyboard but it's Ctrl left mouse button on your trackpad - if you have one. Can't see how you could do this one handed with a mouse. Obviously you need to position the mouse pointer first.

Wendy, reading your post again, if you can manage shift+right mouse button then you can manage ctrl+left mouse button and don't need a trackpad for this. Can't imagine how you can do Ctrl Alt Delete one handed

Ctrl + A selects all. Wendy selects everything then wants to know how she can "unselect" just one item from the group.

    Let me do some searching.

    1. Select the item or several items you do not want to include.
    2. Click on Edit in the menu at the top.
    3. Click on Invert Selection. Items you do want will now be highlighted.

If you can manage Ctrl + A to select all items, hold Ctrl and click the items you don't want selected.

    Closest I found is a work-around.....

    >
    Shift with any arrow key:

Select more than one item in a window or on the desktop, or select text within a document
    <

You can skip around the unwanted item. ie.. copy everything above or /and below an unwanted item, also... copy everything between 2 unwanted items...

The right shift key will work with this, hopefully close to your arrow keys. On my standard keyboard I can do it with only my right hand.

Someone gave me a large used flat screen monitor for my B day yesterday. So I put my old tired lappie under the table that is being used for my lappie, put the large monitor on my desktop station, and my smaller monitor where my lappie used to sit. meanwhile I set up the power settings where the lappie stays on, and use it like a desktop. It is a bit of a kludge, but it works, and is a WIP 20190926_193411.jpg
The keyboard was to replace my LT keyboard, which was acting up.

When you only have one hand, it becomes quite dexterous. Again, full size keyboard helps a lot (the lappie keyboard was a nightmare).

Could sticky keys help with this? Not even sure what those are.

    Sticky Keys will help.
I have not used this feature but had a quick look.
    • Turn on Sticky Keys.
    • Press Ctrl twice.
    • Click the files you want to select one at a time.
    • If you accidentally click the wrong file, just click it again.
    Good luck.

Have you tried the on screen keyboard?

I have used the on screen keyboard right after my stroke, along with the magnifier.I also tried the speech to text feature, gave most of it up due to various incompatibilities with some programs (don't remember details). I was pretty out of it mentally and physically in its aftermath, now I'm learning to cope much better. It took a while to undo the damage on my laptop the day after the stroke, I wasn't really aware of my mental deficits then.

Did you try Sticky Keys for the current issue?

Not yet. I did move my keyboard up to allow me to reach both the <CNTL> key and the mouse at the same time. I have had negative consequences using some of the built in disability aids and some software in the past. I was thinking of a post it note to kill the mouses movement sensor while I go through my contortions to left click at the same time. If it were a ball mouse I would just castrate the poor mouse (same thing as the post it on a laser mouse).
