Good Morning! My internet keeps losing the connection and I need evidence to show Spectrum. Is there a program out there (preferably free) that can track my internet and show every time it loses the connection?
    I have a Dell I7-6700 4.01 GHZ, 64 bit, 16 GB ram using window 10 home.
    I appreciate your help!

One question: Is your cable modem plugged directly into your computer, or is it plugged into a broadband router to support multiple computers? If it's on the router, then Spectrum will point their finger at your connection to the router. You'll need a monitor program that not only checks connectivity to the Internet but also connectivity to the router. If the router is visible but various Internet sites aren't, then Spectrum can't say that the problem is inside your house.

Your router has status lights that tell you whether your connection to the Internet is on or down. If the Internet light goes amber the problem is with your ISP. If it stays green the problem is with your setup. You need to be clear about this before contacting your ISP or you might end up with an unwanted bill.

My cable modem is plugged into a router. Can you recommend a program that will do that?

Thank you, I had no idea about the different color lights.

If you're home at the time, then Earthling's suggestion is the best: look at the modem's status LEDs. If the modem says that it has no uplink connection, then the problem must be:
    1. The cable modem is defective
    2. The cable running to your home is defective
    3. Your ISP is experiencing "technical difficulties"
Here are some ping monitoring tools on MajorGeeks:

    Ping Monster
    Ping Alert
    PingInfoView

I would set one ping target to your router and the another ping target to your ISP's web site. You can specify the interval between pings. I wouldn't get crazy with this (like once every 5 seconds); pinging them every 5, 3, or 1 minute should be enough.
