Not sure if I have chosen the right forum section for this post so apologies in advance.

For the past few weeks I have been plagued by an unusual problem - when I use the search boxes in Facebook, EBay, YouTube etc. it takes for ever for the text to appear. Facebook is the worst affected and it can take 30 secs or more before the words I have typed actually appear in the search box. EBay and YouTube take maybe about 15 secs. It happens in all search options in Facebook - i.e. general search, friends search, search for someone to tag. As I am waiting for the text to make an appearance I can scroll up and down the page and the mouse pointer moves OK but am not able to click on anything until the text finally appears. It is like the text appearing in the search boxes is lagging very badly behind the keystrokes but strangely it only affects searches and not other typing on web pages - e.g. I am typing these comments with no problems at all.

I have cleared out memory caches, recycle bin etc. and run CC Cleaner but that hasn't helped.

I am using a Dell tower PC running Windows 10 and using Chrome as my browser and have Kaspersky Security running in the background.

Have you considered that since many countries are on lockdown, Facebook, eBay and YouTube have millions more users than they had when people were not stuck at home?
Wait until things get back to near normal and the traffic at those sites is lessened.

Good point which I admit I hadn't taken into account but if that was the case I would have thought Facebook, EBay etc would be generally slow in other ways - e.g. navigating between pages but that side of things is fine, it is only the search facilities that are slow.

Searching will always be slower. The number of words and combinations are virtually infinite. The number of pages aren't.

Does the same behavior occur in other browsers?
