Mbam Free And Defender

I tried MBAM free with Defender but did not think it was a good idea for me.
I have Defender and occasionally run Emsisoft, portable but feel it is not good enough..

is there decent alternative to MBAM as it was?

 

I currently run MBAM free with Windows Defender with second opinion scanners of emimsoft and norton power eraser and hitman pro

Yes I was just reading about them. So you have MBAM free with Defender but nothing has real time protection, as you run the portable ones off of a flash drive. Is this correct ?

Could you please tell me what hardened mode is, how to get it and what it does? Thanks a lot.

Could you suggest a decent combination of programs if I am not paying. I am 80 and SS only goes so far.
I have Defender normal and Emsisoft on a flash drive I run weekly. Would I be better to enable MBAM free along with what I have? I am afraid of losing real time protection if I do enable MBAM.

 

MBAM free you don't get real time protection only a scanner so you won't lose real time protection with Windows Defender
