Lost a lot of volume since SSD crash. 10 to 15% had been adequate, now I need 60+ percent. Don't find anywhere to adjust volume on sound card. Already maxed in SETTINGS.

So What's going on scratching my head.

Are you looking to try and recover the music lost or are you trying to increase the audio past 100%.

What windows are you using and please clarify.

Did your SSD just up and died or crash.

Did you update to windows 10 2004 update. There are a lot of problems with this update.I even had to revert back.

We all so need more information on what the main problem is here other then the SSD crash. Is this a custom build or a laptop, desktop brand.

    Coyote,

It's a Dell desktop running Windows 10 Home Edition.

I mysteriously have volume control this morning but the slider in the bottom right is red as in not connected. That makes me suspect something in the OS. Popup says: "The Audio Service Is Not Running!"

Tried to RESTORE but it hangs while searching for last restore point so I can't even restore to previous settings.

Curious if Eldon's batch file would sort out the problem. I haven't found Eldon's file to try it again.

My boot times are very slow ( 4-5 mins ) but everything seems okay after boot-up other than heavy demand CPU loads are obviously sluggish.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Please point me toward Eldon's batch file, it's non-destructive and can't hurt to tr y it.

Yes. I had just a black screen with no sign of life. Nada, zilch.

Technician found wild voltages in my nursing home and he recommended a UPS to tame the supply voltages. I ordered the unit that he recommended from Amazon and a tech-savvy male nurse connected it for me. No help!

Windows may have automatically updated during the night , not sure. Anyway, the black screen greeted me in the morning. Apparently it auto updated during the night.

That's not a bad option. Are you able to provide the Dell desktop model number just in-case.

    Ok let's try some thing.

Let's see if there are any errors on the drive.

On the search bar left click with mouse and type CMD command prompt for short.Should be first thing on list.Click run as administrator option.A black box will open up.

In the black box Type this below.

    chkdsk /f

It will ask you a question to scan on next boot press Y for yes then enter.

Then use start menu to restart system.

In command prompt type this below.

    Eldon,

On booting up today, I received a message that Windows Update did not install completely and to install it again. I did and everything seems back to normal. Boot-up is now back under a minute.

    Thank you.

Don, did you not have to run the batch file?

No, things are back to normal but I will have it in reserve if problems resurface. Thanks for your work on that file.

Another symptom I had was that I couldn't drag New Folders that ( were created by mistake ) to the trashcan. That symptom might be helpful to you gurus in the future.
