I installed 16G ram to my existing 16. The computer is a HP Elitedesk 800G1
When I reboot I get a message the "The system memory size is different from the last boot, press F1 to configure. A little icon with F1 boot appears at the bottom of the computer, but does nothing when pressing, to make sure it was not the disk, or not seated properly, I changed them all around, finally to get online I took 2 disks out, came on, no matter what two slots or which two memory sticks I use it will only boot when there is 16Ram, putting in one or both of the new sticks, will get the error message. T.I.A.

It would help to know the make and model of your motherboard. It may require an updated BIOS to run the full 32GB's.

You can also check with your motherboard's website and see what updates might be required . . . or if there is a forum there other users may have "rammed" into the same issue. If this is a commercial PC (Dell, HP, etc.) check with their page for your particular computer.

Did you research what type of ram you needed prior to purchase?

Did you buy ram that was compatible with with mobo (check on mobo website)?

When adding more ram, it is usually wise to buy same brand and model as existing ram

    Thanks, bought the same brand
Thanks,I bought the exact same ram as the two installed, even swapped them around. I called the guy I bought it from and he had 32G at one tie

Do I infer from your posts that you originally had 16Gb but as 2 ram modules and you have now bought another 16Gb again as two ram modules.

So for clarity you now have 4x 8Gb modules=32Gb?

If that is the case, then populating all four ram slots can cause issues and may require Bios tweaks namely to probably slow the ram down when all 4 modules are installed.....

Thank you for the reply, Right now I have 16Ram, upon installing the other 16 I get the message that there was a difference in the size of the memory and to hit F1 to reconfigure it, does nothing ,for it to boot I can only leave 2x8 =16G it is the exact same memory sticks, I changed them every way possible so there is no problem with the memory sticks or the inserts. BTW the mother board serial # is 2UA4139FW, someone else asked for it.

I went to crucial. There are four variations of HP Elitedesk 800G1
    a) Desktop mini max memory 16 GB type DDR3L-1600 SODIMM
    b) small form factor max memory 32GB type DDR3L-1600 UDIMM
    c) tower max memory 32 GB type DDR3L-1600 UDIMM
    d) ultra-slim desktop max memory 16GB type DDR3L-1600 SODIMM

So which of the four systems do you own? There is a 50% chance that an HP Elitedesk 800G1 can take more than 16GB of memory.

If none of the other suggestions have helped. Sometimes pulling the cmos battery to reset the bios to defaults helps, if it is a bios setting issue. If not make sure the ram slots that have been empty are clean. I use compresses air and an old toothbrush with a little deoxit on it to clean connections if having issues. Some pc's are kind of picky, same brand and speed can still mean some difference's. Double sided ram and single sided ram don't always mix well.
