Funny your topic today... I'm getting a couple sheds tornout that hurrricane Michale took oput,. I can't hardly walk, so I've just found a way. But in there is some old tech, that even the hurricane didn't destroy. Just look at these Kaypro Ms-Dos 3 system disk, in a quad fold 'banker's box' which none of it crushed or wet. All kinds of software and hardward in the mix. 8086's in the lsi style. 16 pin memory chips for populating old memory boards, so 286 and 386 drop-ins. Old stuff...

You are wrong there but you had to do something before the move in February 2020.
My husband is still using my old VM flip phone from around 2005 on Boost, which has now been sold to DISH.
I'm using a VirginMobile smart phone purchased in 2017 on Boost.

I bought two LG flat 2-1/2" screen phones a few years back on sell for 10$ with chargers aand ear-buds. I figured the accessories worth it, and the phones were StraightTalk so could be activated with a 19$ plan in an emergency. The sT site has plenty of free older phone when bouht wth any plan, so the older phones may still be good for a while.

I saw a comment saying older 2G / 3G CDM networks would be retired on Dec 30 this year but I don't know if that is accurate.

It's accurate for some companies/network types. My internet friend had to buy a new phone for his wife at the end of last year (her phone was 2G) and then earlier this year had to buy a new phone for himself (his was 3G). I think it was AT&T and Tracfone but don't hold me to that. It was GSM.
The other is CDMA. There is no CDM.

Since Boost is or was under Sprint, it uses CDMA. So Our old phone still works.

I saw a time table today that showed 2/3 of 2G/3G CDMA gone at the end of 2020 and the final 1/3 gone at the end of 2021. The article was saying the frequencies being used by these would be alloted to newer faster services. Kinda like the horse and buggy lanes giving way to the automobiles.

Of course I live in the USA.
The flip phone from around 2005-2006 that was Virgin Mobile works. My husband used it Sunday to call me from the grocery store. It will continue to work until January 1, 2022.
