Neither Reddit nor facebook are programs!! And it has nothing to do with your thread title.

Perhaps you need to reframe your question before I delete the thread.

Shockingly bad wording of his question but here's what he's talking about. Inadvertently or otherwise he has installed these apps himself. These pics taken on Win 10.

If you uninstalled these programs every two months, assuming that you would REINSTALL them, wouldn't you have to start all over again, adding friends to FB and doing whatever it is you do on Reddit? I went into Programs and Features to try to further understand what you mean and even though I have FB on my computer, it is NOT on my list of programs.

It seems to me that doing so would be like uninstalling a game, then reinstalling it. Uninstalling would wipe out all your progress and you would have to go back to the beginning. So what would be the point??

These apps (see #16) are simply alternative ways to access your online accounts as opposed to using a browser. Any changes you make while using them are made to your online account, they are not stored on your computer, so uninstalling the app doesn't change any of your online content.

So basically, they're pretty much just a Favorites bar/browser shortcut. But why would they be on a Programs and Features menu? Inadvertent install to Programs when installing the app? Geez, now I'M confused!!! LOL

@Tweety1964 If you use a portable app it doesn't make any changes to your computer, you don't get an uninstall option and it won't appear in Programs and Features. However these apps do make changes - to the registry and by adding files to your hard disk, just like any program - so you have to be able to uninstall them too. That's why they are listed in Programs and Features.

@Earthling thanks for answering my question. Sometimes I find weird files I don't recall creating. Once I run my drive cleaners, they usually disappear. I try to stay away from questionable apps, but somehow they sneak through and clutter up my drives.

it must be a facebook app because i play this quiz game or it has to do with sharing stuff or connecting account with YouTube etc
