Performance Issue - Best Way To Track Down?

Hello all

I have in the past been a computer support guy - but being management for a while has blunted my tools. I'd appreciate some help.

I have a new computer; an ASUS Zenbook 14 UX434FQ. It has a 512GB SSD with Intel Optane; a Core-i7 @1.8/3.2GHz; 16GB RAM; GTX350 + Intel Graphics HD. It's running Windows 10 Pro/64 H2/2020 update.

It runs fast - really fast for anything I've had before - BUT... every once in a while, it stutters. The mouse moves at like 3fps, and everything grinds to a halt for about 3 seconds... then it settles down again.

I would love to know if there's any software which could detect the slowdown, and generate a snapshot of all the processes' CPU usage at the moment it occurs so that I can track down the culprit process. If not, I'm open to suggestions about what I **can** do to try to isolate it. I never know when it's going to happen and I'm not noticing any correlation with my own usage.

Can anyone suggest anything please?

 

A 'New?' computer? I would @ 1st complain to the seller!

 

Don't be silly - it's not broken. It's got a piece of software which is getting hung up somewhere (probably something I installed myself) but I don't know WHICH. Why on EARTH would I make myself look stupid and ask them to fix it?!

 

When I've done that myself, I did a couple things.

1. Restore

2. Eliminate (remove) the last few installed items until it corrected
