Date Of Jesus's Birth

Jesus was definitely NOT born on 25 December.

An extract of one of the many web links on this controversial matter gives -

The approximate month of Jesus’s birth is estimated to be around the time of Tishri (mid to late September). To arrive at this date, start at the conception of John the Baptist, Sivan (June), count forward six months to arrive at Gabriel’s announcement of the conception of Jesus, Kislev (December), then count forward nine more months, the time it takes for human gestation, to reach Tishri (September), when Jesus was born in or around 2 BC.

The date and time of Jesus's birth is unknown and the Bible was written around 50 years after his death.

It’s certainly not Dec 25th.
Back then the calendar didn’t include Jan or Feb.
Gestation would be 40 weeks give or take 2 weeks.
So either September or October.
There was never a 0 BC.

 

Theologians, historians, scholars and academics will never agree on any historical event.
Add the growing number of online critics and bloggers who can't or don't want to see both sides of the coin...

To me, whether Jesus was born 100 years earlier, or 50 years later, is of no relevance.

Let's continue celebrating His birth on 25 December.

And have another look at that coin... It has more than 2 sides.

 

Go to Betlehem and look up the birth certificate.

 

Best information is that he was born in Nazareth not Bethlehem.

 

There is absolutely no question that Jesus existed, what is absolute fact is that miracles do not exist.

 

He was born in Bethlehem, Joseph's birthplace. His parents traveled there to comply with Roman census requirements. He was raised in Nazareth.

 

Jesus exists in our hearts and he keeps reminding and guiding us to the way of truth.

 

Fact? What of the witnesses of miracles? They produced facts and will continue to do so.

Science has also debated and still does of miracles - one can debate, but it still seems to come down to faith and hope.

During Jesus' time, Paul (who later became one of his Apostles), was a great unbeliever. Paul took the journey of persecuting the Church, before his radical conversion. He became the Church’s greatest Apostle and a martyr.

I do not want to get into any sort of argument or discussion on this, as I respect others personal opinions and views which they have every right and entitlement to, for whatever reason. I can only suggest you do your own research.

I am interested in all different Religions, and in the Science of Creation - that in itself I find is a miracle. I read a lot, finding common traits in all the readings.

I am a Believer - and much relies on Faith - of which I am absolutely comfortable with. However, I would like to suggest you do your own investigations and research, to find your own truth. With the plethora of evidence about, I found it difficult not to believe.

I feel this whole thread from the title onwards was just a bait and switch with a lean to nothing to do with a birthday.
