HELP!!! I've followed directions from everywhere, and downloaded "Magical Jelly Bean WiFi Password Revealer," which didn't work. I even dowloaded "WiFi Password Decryptor" from MajorGeeks, but it was immediately deleted by 360 Total Security as "Infected."

I don't have a WiFi icon on my task bar(?) (bottom right of screen), but no matter what method I use, I only see the Local Area Connection, not the WiFi. So I opened the Status for that, then opened the Properties. I noticed that "Microsoft Network Adaptor Multiplexor Protocol" is not checked. Is THAT the problem? See attached screenshot. Yet I'm able to use WiFi with my Kindle; otherwise I'd doubt that I had it. Screenshot (117).png
Why can't I see my WiFi?

First it isn't wifi password you are missing, you are missing a wifi connection, if I'm reading your post correctly.
Your image is too small to be seen. I enlarge and the text enlarges but not the image.
I can see you are running Windows 10. Have any drivers been updated recently by a MS update? MS doesn't do well in selecting correct drivers.

Second you failed to mention the computer that has this problem. At this point we have no idea if it is a laptop or a desktop computer. In order to locate the correct drivers, the brand and exact model needs to be known.

Find Network and Sharing Center in Control Panel and click on Change Adapter Settings in the left pane. You should now see your wireless adapter but if you don't, either you don't have one or it's faulty. Tell us what you do see or post a screenshot.

It's a desktop, HP Compaq 6000, a Windows 7 Refurb by Amazon(?) to Windows 10. I've confirmed it's using Windows 10, and I've been using it for a couple years, with my Tenda router, downloading books wirelessly to my Kindle during that time.

No, I really do have Wifi. I just downloaded a book to my Kindle while at the other end of the house from my desktop.
And my computer is a desktop, HP Compaq 6000, Refurb by Amazon(?)
Yes, I had problems with my webcam and ended up having to remove the driver and then reinstall it! Is that the problem?!!
OK, I just hit RESET on my Tenda wifi and now it DOESN'T work. I guess I'll have to find out how to reinstall it with the drivers.

Desktop, HP Compaq 6000, Refurb by Amazon to Windows 10. I've confirmed Windows 10 is working.
Although my Tenda Wifi router (bought Oct. 2016) has been working, I just pushed the "Reset" button. It no longer works now. Maybe I should try re-installing it?

TO EVERYONE: Thanks for trying to help! Just so you know, when I go to "Network and Sharing Center", it shows "View your basic network info and set up connections." Under that, it simply shows
    Network 2 Access Type: Internet:
Private network Connections Local Area Connection (with a small icon that sort of looks like a lantern on a pole)

If I go to the left panel and click "Change Adapter Setting" I get a new box with "Network Connections" and with further detail on Local Area Connection.

Update: I've ended up removing the wifi router by pushing the reset button. I can no longer download to my Kindle. I will try to reload(?) it again. Maybe that will help.
    Further advice is much appreciated!

TO EVERYONE: I'm now looking at my ATT wifi gateway Arris NVG589 for my U-verse landline phone and desktop computer (old school?). All the little green lights are lit except for the one marked "Wireless." Now what?

If that is all you see then either you do not have a wireless adapter in your HP Compaq 6000 or it is not functioning. It would be quite normal for a desktop PC from that time not to have any wireless capability though it is cheap and simple to add it. Is there some reason you want to use WiFi on that machine rather than your existing Ethernet cable? If not I suggest you forget it.

Anyway, the most important thing is to get wireless working again on your router so you can continue downloading to your Kindle. For that you will have to follow the steps in the setup section of your Arris router manual as linked to by plodr.

Thank you so much for all your efforts! This is the first chance I've had to sit down and look at this. I'll check out your tips and see if I can get it to work. In the meantime, I hope 2021 will be a better year for everyone. May it bring peace, prosperity, and good health to you!
