    Hello,

Would anyone happen to be familiar with a "PCIe SSD"? Is it possible to take an extremely bland CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 3500U) and make it a far mightier machine (speed/performance-wise) by virtue of having the PCIe?

    Thank you in advance,
    hagG

Ok well thanks, but I wasn't suggesting that I could. I'm asking, when a very 'average' CPU is combined with (has built into it) a PCIe, is the computer then noticeably faster than that CPU on its own would be?

    No.
Also, a PCIe cannot be 'built into' a CPU.

Once again thanks, but you misunderstood (I didn't communicate well enough...for you). "Built into" THE MACHINE.

I don't understand what you are asking either. Unless your motherboard is decades old, it has PCIe.

If you are comparing a PCIe SSD to a SATA SSD, it may improve performance, but it likely will not be noticeable, except on paper (in benchmark tests - not actual use). If you are comparing the SSD to a hard drive, then that will improve overall performance. Remember, even the slowest SSD will run circles around the fastest hard drive.

If you want to improve performance, look at adding more RAM (particularly if less than 8GB) and perhaps put in a better graphics solution. Just remember, graphics cards are often the most power hungry devices in our systems. So upgrading graphics often requires a bigger power supply first.

Okay great! This is (these things are) what I was trying to figure out, and better understand...thank you much!
