Editpad Lite "suddenly" Won't Allow Changes To Be Saved.

I'm using EditPad Lite (7.3.6 on this computer, will check the other). Been using this software forever. Did not recently re-install or update it. I checked their forums, but there's none online directly anymore -- it's a "feature" built into the newest release (which is shareware now, apparently...not the version I'm using).

This computer's an Acer (convertible) and has only a 30GB HDD (currently 60% full) so I save everything to USB (also I copy to other computer). The USB is a SanDisk 4GB and is only 1/3 full.

All of a sudden, if I edit a file it won't let me save it! This happens regardless of whether the file has been copied back-and-forth or is brand-new...I just created and saved a new file, but if I change anything and try to save changes, it won't let me.

This is bizarre! I have to save with a different name (e.g. add "_2" to the end), delete the original, close the new one and rename it to the original name.

Thanks. Their website looks so different I thought someone had hacked it!

I do now have v8 on this computer...but what happened is a mystery...
I was using EPL 7 (full-install) on both computers and shuffling files between them via USB for almost a year and this silliness happened last week (both running W10 Home...one 32-bit, one 1 64-bit). o_O

Version 8 didn't solve it (by itself). I tried both with and without importing old preferences.

I discovered IObit Uninstaller just a couple months ago. I uninstalled and used that + CC Cleaner to make sure nothing was left. I did a search for "EditPad*" in Explorer and they both missed the EditPad7 and Editpad8 folders in my user profile, which I deleted.

There is an option to "install" (I call them no-install programs) to USB, and further, it allows you to do the same on a hard disk. That solved the problem, though, interestingly, EditPad Lite 7 on the other computer has no problem with the USB now (and doesn't cause one in reverse for the no-install ones). I tested between all three -- this computer (no-install), USB (no-install), the other computer (v7 full install) and saved files to various USB folders and both desktops + other folders, saving little comments with each EPL, and there were no conflicts, not even after importing old preferences.

FYI, I love IObit Uninstaller. It saved my butt when Win-Doze  decided to revert my system settings and download a bunch of Updates without my knowledge (as I was trying to install a huge program over WiFi). It disabled Microsoft IME (to type complex langauges) and also corrupted the default user dictionary--
--which I then couldn't fix, because I had to turn off networking! (This computer's an older build and doesn't have this issue.)

I was quite surprized to see all those "You can not uninstall this update" messages pop up right before IObit kicked them to the curb, regardless! (I hired him as my bouncer.) It took a while to find a good dictionary download. I couldn't even copy the ones from this computer because of the different build or the 32-bit/64-bit difference (I forget).

I also tried IObit Malware Fighter but it slowed down this computer too much. (Apparently I have an empty RAM slot...now I know what to do with my tax return!)
