Firefox Is Behaving In A Strange Way

The browser I prefer to use on my computer is Firefox but it will not open. For your information I have just restored the PC to a restore point, but I do not see why that should have stopped Firefox working.

I have checked in Windows 10 Settings and Firefox is still set as my preferred browser. I cannot get Firefox to open either from its icon on the Taskbar or from the menu which opens when I click on the Windows icon. I have also tried to open Firefox by going to My PC and opening from its file in Windows Explorer.

What I do get is the window I attach as an image. The writing all in the top left-hand corner of the image may not be easily read from the image so I have reproduced what it says below.

I have no idea how to resolve this problem. I have my Bookmarks saved as a file on my Desktop so I’m thinking of deleting Firefox and then downloading and re-installing it. I believe I can then simply import the bookmarks file from my desktop in Firefox.

Please let me know from the error message in the window that opens (cf. attached image) if that would be the wrong step to take.

As I have been writing this I ran Belarc Advisor to check the details of my computer and operating system as I know these are often requested. I did not think it would work because its result automatically open in Firefox. However, the results of the Belarc Advisor scan have opened normally if Firefox. I have also been able to export bookmarks so I know I have the most up to date ones. What’s going on!!!???

My OS is Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 2004 and my PC is Hewlett-Packard s5770uk-m.

    Thanks!

Just a hunch but maybe Firefox had updated after the restore point so your shortcuts were incorrect after the restore.

Your hunch was correct. Thank you very mcuh!

I restored to a point in December 2020 and obviously Firefox has updated since then. I've run Belarc Advisor again to open a Firefox window and I found I could open others and access the Net. Firefox also said an update was avaialable, which I ran. After updating Firefox my shortcuts work and problem solved.
