Wifi Problems

I do not have access myself to a modem/router in the aged care facility where I now live.
I have a samsung s5 mobile which although it was beginnning to develop some problems...connects fine to the WIFI here as does the Data.
However , I recently purchased a Samsung Note 20..and for some reason i am not able to be connected to Wifi
(error comes up saying...connected without internet.)
Yet my laptop and TV are both connected to the internet. Its just my Note 20.
I've requested help from several people...but they havent been able to get in touch with our remote IT person.
Has anybody got any thoughts on this problem please.
I really want to setup my Google Home Mini for pairing my little Bose speaker etc etc... but cant.

 

OK so you can see the WiFi network from the Note20, and status says 'connected' but no internet, yes?

Basics first......have you tried turning WiFi off, and then on again tapping the Icon from your blind?
Have you tried re-booting the Note20?
If neither of these help, find the network in Settings>Network & Connection>WiFi......disconnect using 'Forget', then re-establish connection entering the network password again.

Its not a problem with the gateway (modem) if your other devices connect fine with data!

 

I have gotten the same message countless times and yet I was still able to connect to the Internet.
Have you tried?

 

Thanks so much for responses...sorry being so long getting back to you...I did try what you said...and am now trying to confirm the password which I had been given (snd which doesnt work)...I am not near the office, and have several of the staff here "on the case"
for me, trying to get the password...
Apparently it's been changed sincce last time my phone was connected.
It;s just weird that my old phone...samsung s5...still has wifi internet access.....but of course,,i prefer to use the Note 20..even for screensize/visibility...not to mention the money I paaid for it...lol
Once again my thanks..and apologies in advance if i dont reply immediately to suggestions...i really do try them ...i have a positive feeling that this time it will work ..once i get hold of the elusive password...

 

If the Network password has been changed, then all of your connected devices will no longer have connection to the WiFi gateway of your aged care facility.

Your devices will have most likely reverted to the cellular network instead (the phone tower), utilising data from your cell plan. (accept for the laptop of course).

Unless you have a SIM in your Note20, you need the gateway at your aged care centre for Internet access. For this to happen, you will need the new password.

I do have a sim in my note20,,,and was able to confirm this morning that i am definitely using the right password.
wifi still says..connected without internet.
I have to admit that i did not understand what a couple of you were trying to tell me eg//tapping icon from the blind.....
I did do the forget part though...(living in an aged care facility has made me quite an expert on that bit.....lol)....still didnt work though..
I'll be out of contact for a few days...but would appeciate any other suggestion (words of one syllable pls) I'll give it another go when i get back.

 

Shutdown.
Take the SIM out!
Reboot.

 

I honestly dont want to atart playing around with the note 20....It still scares me a bit....taking the back off it is a step too far for me...I would have to take it back to where I bought it for that.
I am wondering now if I can somehow conect my Google Home Mini to Data instead of Wifi...and just pair all of my devices to that....Can that be done..or must it be via wifi

SIMS are easy to remove, just that the COMM connection may be interfering with connection over WiFi.

Yes......If you have a device utilizing 4G/5G data only, you can "Hotspot" that device and hook all other devices to that hotspot utilising its network name and supplied password.

It just means you will be paying for data usage rather than your aged care facility!
