Had to go with Viasat.....paying over $100 a month for 25 mbps and unlimited data....until I hit their "limit" of 60 gigs. But all I get is @9 mbps download and when I call to complain, I am told speeds may vary!! And in order to have them send out a tech to trouble shoot THEIR equipment, I have to pay $95. Considering calling the State Att. General, the FCC, BBB, and anyone else I can bitch at. 9 mbps isn't in the ballpark of 25 mbps!! This is the worst crap I have ever experienced!!

You always seem to have internet provider issues where you live. it makes me realize how lucky we are. we get good service and have some choices.

Had someone come out and he explained they improperly installed the dish. Tree limb directly over it, pointed at a tree and the system is not grounded....which jeopardizes my house and all electrical devices in it. I should sue their ass!!

That's for sure! Someone should have to fix it at a minimum!

We used to have Cablevision, then it was Optimum, and now Altice. I was paying the same rate for years, right around $87 per month. Altice takes over, and within a few years steady increases have the bill at $145, ZERO increase in services. However, they've installed hotspots all over the place, and "system upgrades" including cell service, none of which we use (or ever will) but have to shell out for anyway . I like the lawsuit idea, especially paying for shiat we don't use like hotspots.

Also, when Altice purchased Optimum it was GROSSLY overvalued. And much like LILCO's Shoreham nuclear debacle the ratepayers foot the bill...

Hey Tim my old place had crappy internet issues so when I moved to Gippsland a couple of years ago the requirement was it had to have fibre to the house.........I currently get 350Mb/s down and 75Mb/s up no matter what time of the day or whatever the weather.
Over here we have the government implemented NBN (National Broadband Network) and successive governments have cheapened the original proposal of having fibre to the majority of houses across Australia and now most places have "fibre to the node" which means they put a box with a fibre connection in the middle of a suburb and then connect all the crappy old copper phone lines to the box.....so if you have fibre to the node you might be like my mum or my sister who only get 30Mb/s down and 15Mb/s up and in peak times or in rainy weather it is even less. Totally crap service and they went to the small claims tribunal because their ISPs couldn't deliver the speeds they were charging them for and they ended up with a refund and reduced fees in line with how much slower the connection is in respect of the quoted service dpeed in the brochure.....talk about dodgy business practices.

Everyone said I was crazy for only moving somewhere that had fibre direct to the premises but who is laughing now lolol

Not going to pay the ransom for them to do a proper install.....which they say is free. I have a surprise for whichever fool they send out.

That's it Tim and if enough people took this action then they might lift their game and do a better job :eek:
My current ISP is TPG and they seem really good (I've only had them since I moved) but previously before I moved, I had Telstra (duds) then iiNet (duds) Dodo (duds) then iPrimus (duds) then Internode (duds) and ended up on Optus and although they were the dearest, they were the only ISP offering fast cable connections in my area but they were also duds because their unlimited policy was really a 100Gb data limit per month and then you were "data shaped" for the rest of that month until the next billing cycle started. They used some small print in the contract to legally bring about this "data shaping" under their unspoken about "fair use for all users" policy which contradicted their advertised unlimited download plans. In the early days they used the "fair use for all users" policy to discourage heavy downloading customers by "shaping" your maximum download speed down to less than 20Kb/s which was woeful....glad I don't have to use them any more.
Good luck with Nomad and I hope they work out for you :)

Yup. I had to use my cell when we had no power for 2 days earlier this month. (That was when Hurricane then Tropical Storm Ida hit the NE US). Since my plan doesn't include tethering nor a mobile hotspot, I'm forced to stare at a minute screen. I get 6 GB of data which I never come close to using.

It seems to have fixed itself. I could get on Roku, but each channel would just sit there "loading". I kept checking and it would say I have very good signal but not connected to internet. Re-did password three times. Then I opened prime video on my laptop...took a while but finally loaded. So stopped with the laptop and tried the TV again....and walla...When I first did a speed check after set up, it was 0.5 mbps....so we moved it around the house and found a place where we get 20 mbps...still wouldn't connect in Roku....until doing the above. Weird.

On Nov. 1st. A UPS truck showed up with an order to pick up a package containing a satellite dish. LOL...next day someone from Viasat called me, admitted the dish was returned on Sept. 10th and then I broke into a rant and told him to SUE ME!!
Have posted this run around on BBB, PissedConsumer, Complaintsboard.com and Ripoffreport.com.

I'm confused, why would you want them to sue you? Or do you mean figuratively?

I have to say I'm glad I don't live in the USA. Even in the backwoods in my country you can still get either dedicated 4G or fibre.

Because they keep harassing me, emailing me, trying to charge my credit card. I have reported the situation to the Attorney General of my state. They have 10 days to reply to the Att. General.

Update, Viasat has quit harassing me once I got the state Attorney General involve.

Nomad has sent me 4 routers over the last few months because each cell provider craps out...couldn't get speeds high enough to use two laptops at the same time. Some evenings the data speed was too low to stream videos. Totally undependable.

But T-Mobile has started their own service for internet....now getting a constant 20 mbps and paying $50 per month (lifetime) instead of $129 per month with nomad. This is even less than what we paid Windstream.
