    Maybe a wee drop of Drambuie to wash the cake down ;)

    Best wishes for the coming year and with the current CoVid situation, hopefully you can celebrate with friends and family :)

    You are not suprisingly belated as its today 15th Jan, unless you are ahead of me timezone wise.

    Hey David,
    Nope, I'm east coast US. Just read the others and thought I was a day late.
    Research going well?

    Yes Joffa will be a day ahead of me.

    Thanks for asking, the research is going really well, and a very busy time for us over the past 5yrs and not going to slow down going forward. I'm down to 1 clinic 2 times a week, but this one can be done virtually as its a monitoring clinic for HCQ patients to check for retinotoxicity, so we only need retinal scans.

    Rest of research is very mixed which I like a mix.
    • Wet AMD project ongoing, which is looking for biomarkers in the change from no disease or Dry AMD to Wet AMD
    • Wet AMD project, which is trialling again (old idea) of directed radiation treatment for patients in which other treatments (anti-vegF) have not worked
    • Diabetic QA assessment on a setup of a screening program
    Then its some interesting stuff for me and tech in a few projects in AI/ML to have computers review imaging and diagnose specific eye conditions, 2 of these projects are with a large Pharma, early results are very promising.
    We have about 4 more projects being setup currently using AI/ML computer applications we have designed, and 4 more drug trials to start this year.
    Been also trying to move away from using Excel alot for data analysis from our Access databases, to using PowerBI, which is alot more automatic that Excel, but I'm very novice at it so far.

    I need to clone myself.

    Hope you are well and keeping busy?

    I can see why you would need to clone yourself with all those projects going on. Just remember that the candle even if it is lit at both ends burns twice as fast.

    Keeping well and mainly staying away from other people outside my "family grouping." I go out every once in a while but my smoking history keeps me from exposing myself to too many situations. I have already had my annual respiratory challenge. Antibiotics and steroids got me straightened out pretty quickly.

    As to busy, I am part of the "Great Resignation." My last job had me so screwed up from stress, I have called it quits for awhile.
    I may go back to part time at something else when the job situation gets better in my area. So for now, I'm "retired".

    Yeah its well worth keeping away from those outside your family bubble at present, easpecially with respiratory challenges and this virus still at a level it will cause some issues, hopefully the new anitvirals will be promising.

    Thats the thing with jobs these days, many are getting stressed as workloads keep getting tougher, which is why we do have extra staff, need 1 more person, and I'm not pushing myself past what I feel is ok. Indeed part time is a good option.

    Keep well & safe

    I hope your birthday weekend is great, David.

    People are leaving jobs in record numbers in the US. I think after spending time at home in 2020 when a lot of places were closed, they now realize that the job with all its headaches is not worth the long drives in traffic, the stress and being expected to be on-call 24x7. With lots of places looking for workers, it is worth trying a different job to find out if it is better at another place.

    Thanks Laura, yeah was relaxing, the wine helped. Just found a bottle of mulled wine so thats going to be on the go later.

    @plodr thanks so much.
    Agree in 2020 with places laying folk off and work from home being more used, I think many have as you say thought, dont need the stress and maybe hybrid working is the way forward. I did some work from home in 2020/2021 but not fully due to covid (though work in a hospital so pox central) but more that the work I'm currently doing, I can do remotely and my home PC is much more powerul that the work PCs, though do have 2 new HP Workstations with Xenon CPUs coming anytime in next month for the office.

    Totally 100% with the jobs market now being on the employee side, as you say you can trial a job and see if you like it, until you find a pefect one for you.

    @Eldon Good informant!
