Hi Geeks, Geekettes, and all others,

I accidentally shredded 391 financial files using BitDefender Shredder where I only meant to shred about 10. Is there anyway to recovery these?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Unfortuantely, there is no way to recover these files. Bitdefender Shredder does a good job of making files unrecoverable.
Your only hope is to recover from a backup.

_nullptr - Thank you for taking the time to respond.

That's been my conclusion so far but I'm hoping for a miracle. Not to be facetious, but here's my thinking. If Hillary Clinton had her server "bleached" by professionals and yet authorities were able to recover 10k emails, then I'm hoping that my everyday software leaves a loophole that allows me to recover what was there.

    There's no loophole.
You can spend thousands of $$$ and hope your files will be recovered.

There are forensics companies. But be prepared to commit thousands of dollars and a lot of hope.

One other thing: Considering news reports about atrocious security even at the highest levels, the infamous Clinton email server may not have been properly encrypted / shredded, and thus allowing for some recovery?

The key word is professional! If you want your files recovered than you have to hire professional to do it.

Any files not backed up off the computer are files you can afford to lose!
So, in the future, keep at least 2 copies of every file AND learn to make images. Files can be recovered from images you make.

Thank you to all of you! Lesson learned.

@plodr I do have a son who's at the Air Force Academy studying cyber. I'll ask him to show me more about images. Thank you for the suggestion!

You won't be sorry if you have backups in the form of images. There is no such thing as too many backups!
