I'm suddenly getting bombarded with tons of spam. Is there a program to help with this?

Win 10, Home, Yahoo email. A lot of this spam is showing up in my regular email, and not spam file.

I get very little spam in Yahoo. (Juno on the other hand is overrun not only with spam but now a daily email about classmates.com, which Juno owns and can't be blocked. Wake up and smell the coffee Juno. No one is going to pay to use classmates when Facebook is free!)

Go into Yahoo's settings and look at the actual sender, not what ever appears in the inbox line. The actual sender is the one you want to block.

    Thanx.

I've been doing that and have about 600 blocks. But as mentioned, it seems the more I block, the more spam I receive.

This all started when I gave Pembroke Pines (FL) Lexus my email. Despite me asking them to not send me any of their emails, they continue to so so. It's kind of funny that their emails have an "opt out" of further emails to click on but you can click it all day and nothing happens.

Don't be afraid to use filters. If a lot of the spam has certain key words in it, I put the word in and select put in the trash. Then I don't have to look at it because Yahoo will eventually empty the trash. I do this for all the political email I get that I don't want. I even get political emails from other states!!! I have no idea where they culled my email address from.

I just checked and I have 621 blocked addresses in Yahoo. You get 1000. Don't be afraid to use them. I also have 5 or 6 filters.

Unfortunately, Juno has no filtering. They want you to pay for email. No way would I pay for their junky email. So I've been sending 99% of the inbox to the junk folder. We are now up to about 20 daily. Juno empties the junk emails that sit in the folder for 3 days. So we have about 60 then it drops to 40 and a new day begins with more spam.

That's why many of us create secondary email addresses. If you decide later you really want their email's, you can always update them with your primary address.

I've read in various forums about AOL and Yahoo users complaining of junk mail - some claiming that the company that bought them isn't investing much - so spam filters become increasingly ineffective. Who knows?

I'm a sample population of one - but my own experience - I use Gmail and I used to get dozens and dozens of junk mail ~10 or so years ago (viagra, enlargement) - but for the last few years, I hardly get any - maybe one every one or two weeks? I have just eight filters / blocked addresses. I attribute this to Gmail's effective spam blockers and the fact that I give out my addy only to friends and family. I have separate emails for banking, shopping, "throwaway", and accounts recovery.

If you don't mind Google, I highly recommend Gmail. But if you do, an alternative might be ProtonMail.
