    Hello everyone,
I haven't been around for a long while. In 2021, I fell on the sidewalk and thought I broke a rib. Landed in the hospital to check things out..good news: ribs not broken... bad news: the specialists took numerous blood samples and found that I have Leukemia, breast cancer and diabetes 2. Geezzz.... I am battling health issues and I think that Covid-19 was the catalysts. I went in a deep depression but never stopped shift work...I needed to stay busy. Because of Covid-19, my treatment was put on hold... Diagnosed February 2021 and still awaiting treatment and it is now March 25, 2022. I'm a stubborn woman and I refuse to give up. My co-workers, my family and friends have abandoned me....so I am doing this event alone. I hope I win the fight.
Hope all is well with you all... stay well and be well....

    Hey Shelagh,

You defo have friends here and I ahve not been around much of late too, past year been different for me and weirdly close to home as work wise.

Leukemia, breast cancer and diabetes not a set of conditions to take lightly but I see in your post that you are upbeat and be so as I think postitive thoughts do help battle through our ills.... Co-workers and friends that abandoned you, "shame on them" really horrid to do, but you know you have friends here and please do PM me if you want to chat as I will give you my private email address as I know what going through medical issues is like.

Thank you for making time to help me feel better about myself. I guess what hurt me more is that my son doesn't care. and dismissed me. When I told him , he ordered me not to email or call him and he did so on Mothers Day last year. He lives in another city. However, I am not angry with him because his first wife had Leukemia and he watched and cared for her for two years where she died at home, and it was difficult times for him. So I understand.
I work shift work and it can be very trying but I soldier on because if I can't pay rent and bills/food/medications, it would not be good for me... I am a fighter and I hope/will win this fight, God willing.

TBH your son should know better as he had been through the hurt, so should be empathatic for you "his mum"

You just take it slowly and I hope your employer is receptive to your health? and gives you some leaway on productivity etc? I know I'm lucky as I work in medicine and my main health issues is weirdly my area of medicine, so my bosses are all consultants so I'm well cared for, which is lucky.

I do hope you can get by for food/rent etc as currently cost of living is getting a hit, especially on energy due to global problems.

Well here is an update.... I resign from security work which is shift work and took a day job cleaning bathrooms for a government building. It is from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is very physical but at least I have a normal day job to deal with my diabetes. With security shift work, my blood sugar was out of control. One battle is corrected. I hope with the Leukemia, it does not make it worse, but I had to do something to start healing. Anyways, I carry on and hopefully I will win the battles.
    Happy Easter everyone !

That's good new's. Security Work can be boring and fating wink wink.I did that for 6 years and driving school bus at the same time.I know how it goes. There are some security jobs that make you sit at a desk all day and watch nothing but security monitors. It's not a big deal but when you don't walk as much as you should you will gain wight pretty fast.

Hmm cleaning shitters all day is kinda iffy job but hey as long as it pay's who cares.

Cutting down on sugar is one thing i need to do.heck i still drink pepsi which has 118 g of sugar in a 20oz bottle.

I've being doing security work for the Federal government and National Defense since 2006 and it is not sitting at a desk. It involves 24/7 security duties like patrols and dealing with employees involves lots of stress and legwork. When you work 12 hour shifts seven days straight with two days off... one has no life. I'm only doing shitters as you put it gives me a day job and a life....what ever is left of it... I need to survive pay bills and rent and medication until death do me part.
I would appreciate if you did not be-little my situation...but thanks for the feed back.

I was not trying too.Ive been there.Just to work two job's back in the day just trying to keep up with today's bills. It can be ruff.I am working 50 hours a week just to keep my self a float.Today's world sucks and we all know it.It's not like it use to be.

I did security as well for 6 years i know the feeling.

It was not for Government's but still in the security field. And i drove school bus during the day.

I apologize if it sounded that way.But like i said was not trying to.
