  1. Hello,When I tried to open my AOL account on 05/05/22 it said “We have noticed some unusual activity” I know my password yet it needs to have a cell phone number to send a security code and the one I listed I don't have access to since it was an old phone and that number is non existent. I called AOL 3 times & each time they say they must have the name I used to sign up with 17 years ago because that's what the computer on their end is asking for. For the life of me I can not come up with this name. I offered them tons of info to prove it's my account but they say they can not use this info because that is not what the computer is asking for on their end...UGH. I have tried password reset but again they want to call or text the non existent phone number.
Can you please help me with this problem? Thank you for your time and any help you can provide.

If you have other device(s) where you are already signed on... then go there and update your phone/contact info. If not, then given what AOL has already told you, you may be out of luck.

I know this is not the answer for you right now... but for future reference, ALWAYS write down your log-in credentials. A password manager is perfect for stuff like this.

  3. Thank you for your reply, I get the “We have noticed some unusual activity” after completely logging in with my ID & password. I know my password & ALWAYS write down my log-in credentials. What they want is not that... I have no other devices and would never stay logged in on any device....

    and

Then it appears you are out of luck and have lost that email account.

I'll stress for anyone reading this thread, it is important to check every so often that your recovery information for any account you don't want to lose is current.
