Per Roku Streaming Service / Roku Remote

I have grown weary of constantly replacing drained batteries from my Roku Streaming Stick (Model 4200X) without any viable Fix from Roku.

This has been a issue with this Stick--all models--for the past five years--none of the alleged Fixes work!

Are there any other worthwhile Streaming services that duplicate Roku--without that kind of super-annoying glitch?

    TIA!

I use a NowTV stick, which uses Roku. Only today, in order to use it, I had to replace the batteries which were supposed to last until Dec '24, yet it's only rarely used. Clearly remains on 24/7 whether in use or not.

Assuming you do not mean the stick itself but the batteries in the remote:
I use a Roku Remote app in my Android phone for control of stick and TV off/on and volume,
and I would expect apps for Apple phone to be also available...

They recently released a rechargeable remote. Not bad at $29.99.

I usually just use my phone app for my Roku even for headphone use. I've been using Roku for 15 years or so and the remotes draining the battery has always been an issue. I guess their "fix" is this new rechargeable remote.

    Thanks for that info!

Now, I wonder for how long it will hold a charge--will check reviews.

I'm not sure how old your Roku is but I found this. -Works with any Roku device made since 2017. I think it's micro USB charge. Disappointing since I am finally using all USB C devices.

I haven't found any consistent complaints about the battery life yet but there are hundreds of reviews on the product page. Looks like the battery is built-in so that's also disappointing.

I have a Roku 3, purchased about four years ago. Just started using it last June. A battery-eater, for sure.

Just ordered the Voice Remote Pro--let's see how THAT goes!

BTW, your hypertext link there doesn't redirect.

Bottom of the product page for the reviews.

Hopefully it works great! I'm happy using my phone for now but if I see a good sale I won't be able to resist.

I also have a Roku 3 and a Roku LT. Both are OLD but still work just fine besides the remote battery drain issue.

I recently bought a Roku Ultra and am very happy with it. Got it on sale from Amazon for $69.99. Well worth that price.

Just received the VR Pro, am charging it as we speak.

The YouTube reviews of the VR Pro are so far fairly positive; let's see how the rechargeable battery holds up over time.

Thanks to all for kluging Roku remotes and the dreadful battery-draining dilemma!

That was fast! Too bad they can't roll out fixes that fast. :D:D:D

Hopefully it works out good! Batteries aren't cheap these days.

The pathetic lack of fixes for the over-five-years issue of Remote batter-drainage doesn't speak well at all for Roku customer service.

I should've just changed to the Amazon Fire Stick two years ago!

Agreed. The Roku Ultra has had a bug causing the power light to stay on for MONTHS. There is a multi page help thread of people asking them to fix it already. All they have done is acknowledge it is a bug and told us to turn off a setting to "fix" it.

I do like the Roku channel but the extremely slow support is annoying.
