2023-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22h2 for x64 based systems (KB5027215) has failed several times.... Error 0x80071160. Got to 20% a couple of times, then 45% but would never finish. Last message was that updates paused until 7/24/2023 so I can use the computer again and hope to find a fix before that date.

I tried cleaning everything, Disc Cleanup, CCleaner, ran virus scans and spyware scans, ran SFC and whatever else I could think of... plus the Windows Update troubleshooter... nothing worked. Drivers are up to date and bios too. Running out of ideas.

Wondering if I have to turn off the anti-virus program to run it... never had to do that before for Windows Updates. Also I noticed a program called Tweaking.comm for repairing Windows. Should I try it?

Would appreciate any tips or ideas... I'm going crazy!! Thanks.

Thanks for responding. I haven't tried again for over a week. The update program paused itself until July 24th so I'm hoping to find a fix before then. Every time I do a search, I find tons of other people with the same problem!! I'll try your suggestion. Thanks.

P.S. ... forgot to mention that I think it was at 20% installing.

Something to try: Go to, This PC, right click on c: drive, click on properties, click, disk cleanup, then click on clean up system files, then click box for updates, updates cleanup, then ok. It may take a while. Then reboot, and try updates again.

I run Disk Cleanup about once a week and clean up system files. Only two are unchecked: Previous Windows Installations and User file history. Should I clean those out too?

Delete previous windows Only if you never want to go back to it. I dont think it will this issue, but it will free up some space. User file history is basically just taking up space, deleting it will not hurt anything.

Have you tried resetting the update components?
Open cmd prompt/powershell with admin & enter:
    Net Stop bits
    Net Stop wuauserv
    Net Stop appidsvc
    Net Stop cryptsvc
    Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore DataStore.bak
    Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download Download.bak
    Ren %Systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
    Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
    Net Start bits
    Net Start wuauserv
    Net Start appidsvc
    Net Start cryptsvc
Restart the PC & try updating again.

    And/or:
Search for services.msc & find Windows Update & ensure it is set to Automatic.
