Sadly, you didn't say, better than "what"?

If you meant better to do "major" upgrades to this laptop than buy a whole new computer, you can forget about that idea.

There are two main problems with laptops as an entire category of computers. They are (1) highly "proprietary" and that means (2) very limited (if any) upgrade options.

"Proprietary" is an evil (and expensive) word! But it is nearly synonymous with "laptop". This is because there is no ATX Form Factor standard for laptops as there is for PCs.

The ATX Form Factor Standard for PCs defines and dictates the size and shape for motherboards, cases, mounting holes and screw sizes, power supplies, connectors, even voltages for the components used in PCs. This means you can use an ASUS motherboard, Gigabyte graphics card, 24 inch monitor, CoolerMaster case, Seasonic power supply, Samsung SSD, Crucial RAM and be certain they will all fit and work together. Then tomorrow, you can swap in a MSI graphics card and move everything to a Fractal design case and 27 inch monitor, and an EVGA power supply and still be certain they will all fit and work together.

With laptops, we are stuck with only what the laptop maker offers. And they would much rather we buy a new laptop than upgrade the old.

So I highly doubt there are any motherboard upgrade options. You can replace the existing one with a like board, but not likely with an upgraded board. Again, Acer controls the size and shape and availability of any board that will fit that specific proprietary case. That then greatly limits any CPU upgrade options (if even possible) - not to mention power requirements may change and then there's the hassle finding a compatible power supply.

There may be some "minor" upgrade options available to you. If your laptop currently has a hard drive, you might be able to replace it with a SSD. And if your RAM is removable (or you have unused slots), you might be able upgrade the RAM, or add more RAM.

But note many laptops use surface mounted components - including for the RAM and CPU. That means they are not mounted in a slot or socket but soldered directly to the motherboard. This saves space and weight - a major criteria for many laptop buyers who don't want to lug around heavy laptops. But that also means those components cannot be upgraded.

You will need to do some more homework for your specific model - to include opening the case to see how your CPU is mounted. If in a socket, you might be able to upgrade the CPU. But any options would still be greatly limited to what is compatible with that specific board and its chipset. Inspect your RAM. If in a slot (or you have an unused slot) you might be able to upgrade your RAM or add more RAM. And if you have a hard drive, you typically can replace it with a SSD. If you already have an SSD, and if it is upgradable, any performance gains will be marginal - at best, and most likely not worth the investment.

Beyond that, if you are looking for a more capable computer, start building your budget for a new computer. And if in the future, you want a computer that supports near limitless upgrade options, build your own "PC" or have one custom built for you. If you avoid getting a laptop, you avoid that evil "proprietary" word altogether.
