Hey fellow gamers!

I hope you’re all having an epic time lurking. As we dive into 2024, I’m curious: What video games are you currently playing, and what makes them special for you? Which ones are you waiting for? PC or Console? (Don't be elitist, since obviously PC is better... oops.)

Here’s a little about my current gaming journey:

1. Diablo 4
   • The dark and gritty atmosphere, the thrill of battling demonic forces, and the loot-hunting addiction—It's pretty Grindy though, I haven't even reached maxed level! D3 was way more fun IMHO
2. World of Warcraft
   • I've been playing it since Vanilla. For the WHOR... er... HORDE!! J/K I play alliance. Mage for life. I don't really raid anymore (I used to lead - OMG I hated it!) But it's where my heart has been for literally 20 years. I just can't quit it.
3. Lost Ark
   • This game is fun. Lost Ark combines action RPG goodness with breathtaking visuals! The only thing I don't like about it is that progression is ILVL gated, and you HAVE to raid to get there. I don't feel confident in my skills, and Pugs are brutal, so I've hit a wall.

Tried playing Resident Evil Village in third person, but Ethan Winters is so slow.

I'm playing Fallout 76 (lvl 1206) and Starfield (lvl 324)
I gave up playing Elden Ring (lvl 139) because I got sick of getting killed every other battle and some of the boss fights you die dozens of times.
Every day I also play a word game called Wordchuck and I try to be one of the top 8 every day.....some days it takes a while to get a high score as each 3 minute game has a different set of random letters generated and more often than not the letters are crap

 

I used to like the WWE games, but not since 2K got the rights.

I haven't touched fighting games in years. But I mostly play survival horror games, or the 8-ball pool app.

 

Word games are fun. When my family started doing the Wordle thing, and they were all sharing their scores about 30 times a day, I played Octordle instead and smoked them. Glorious.

Do you play ARK: Survival Ascended? It's an open world survival game, and there's dinosaurs or something. A bunch of my friends play it, but I don't prefer that type of game. My kid plays a lot of jump scare games like Poppy Playtime and Bendy and the Dark Revival. He really likes them.

 

I haven't played it.

I will be playing Alone in the Dark next month.

 

What's that one about? Or is it super obvious.

 

It's a series about an investigator of the paranormal who usually ends up in creepy houses, a ghost town with saloons, or some other place. Most of the games are only loosely connected.

The new game is actually the fourth reboot overall. The other attempts happened in 2001, 2008 and 2015, I think.

 

Well, Transformers: Devastation was a no brainer. Play the cartoon? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY. I really wanted to know how many different weapons there were, so I collected 146.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Seriously though, got boxes of old consoles, carts, *D-ROMS, and portables in storage, so I having the emulators is actually legit, LOL. Atari, Sega, Nintendo. Robotron 2084? Maybe some Soulcalibur here and there. Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Injustice. I try to spread it around a few nights a week. Actually, played South Park Rally for shits and giggles the other night. Maybe some Resident Evil. "Alone in the Dark" sounds fun. Got Ace Combat 7 on the way cheap recently, barely cracked it. Nearly any game in the series is fun. Classic; Air Force Delta. Just picked up the remastered Tomb Raider,so... You can actually toggle between graphic modes via the Start button w/XInput. While playing the game. I think they did a nice job.

 

If any game deserves a continuation, it is Days Gone. Sony on the other hand, just don't seem to give a crap about it anymore.

That was a swell thrill ride. But some parts were very hard. It did drag on a bit in some sections.

The story goes that a biker is separated from his wife during an outbreak. He ends up doing errands for these communities. Or safe zones. But your motorbike can get pretty messed up.

There's loads of missions. Some involve having to rescue hostages, or find particular items. And you have occasional boss battles, or you must find bunkers. Then a horde of infected could suddenly rush at you.

One of the best parts is when you have to plant explosives at a dam and detonate the area in order to flood a group of villains.

It was very interesting as well.

 

So, my kid used to play MineCraft (still does just not obsessively) and he would drop all kinds of TNT in a pile, and then put farm animals on top to see what would happen.

Also, he would pick up chickens and throw them into the lava, and cackle in a tiny kid voice "Into the lava, chicky chicky!!!" like a supervillain. It was hilarious.

Thanks for reminding of that.

 

I've been messing around with alts in WoW again, and I named my Paladin Amazing, (All my toons start with Ama - That's what people used to call me). So now, whenever I speak to a quest giver and introduce myself, it says "I am Amazing." Ego Pally, activate!

 

I played Alone in the Dark. Kind of buggy. I think the modern horror genre is thriving.

 

I miss having folks to actually play with. Sometimes I really prefer to be solo, but some of these games have group content that I'd like to see with people I actually know, instead of the hell that is PUGs.

 

Just started playing the beta Fallout 76 expansion on the Fallout Public Test Server (PTS). The new expansion will be coming to the game servers in June if the testing is a success and it is the first expansion of the map area in 5 years. Yes there have been many DLCs and new season content but the DLCs you travel to by Vertibird and when you arrive at the location you can't place a camp or use your survival tent as the location is not part of the Fallout area map and doesn't show on you pip boy. I have already placed a camp and used my survival tent in the new area and there are a couple of really nice locations with lovely waterfalls for scenery. This new expansion covers a huge area in the south and there are lots of new buildings and structures and also some new really tough enemies and some new creatures. There are also a couple of new weapons you can get when you successfully complete an event. In case anyone is interested there is a limited free trial of Fallout 1st running at the moment although I am already paid up so for me there is no advantage.

 

Currently playing Alone in the Dark - The New Nightmare on PS5. Previously I played Resident Evil Revelations & the Alone in the Dark remake.

 

Not a gamer in the strictest sense of the word. I'm on a 5 year old laptop win 10 home. Win 7 pro games. I play Mahjong Titans. Solitaire ,,Free Cell , Spider Solitaire. I have WET MACULAR DEGENERATION . Left eye vision is crap Right eye is good for an old fart my age I still have a valid drivers license. I can't follow the movements on most video games.

 

I was under the impression that Diablo 4 would not run on my computer... I tried the free trial and it does. The graphics are great, but I like the play style of D3 better.

 

I'll say the quiet part out loud, D4 is boring AF.

D3 there was hope for a brighter future, there was witty banter and fun graphics. There was loot raining from the sky. It was a lot of fun. You could tweak your character to do all kinds of wild things with the sets.

D4 there's no hope, there's no motivation, there's no charm, the loot is unnecessarily complicated, the story line is all depressing, You can't really do much with your character other than make it not die... it's just not fun. I dropped it before even finishing the story line and the seasons aren't interesting.

 

Currently playing Observers Redux (sp) as it’s free as a PS+ subscriber. Not bad.

 

Yeah, so far I am very unimpressed with D4.

 

I haven't played games for what feels like forever. The only upcoming game I know of with a concrete release date (that is, unless something changes between now and then), is Silent Hill 2. But besides that, I focus more on taking up subscription trials on Amazon so that I can watch free movies.

There's a lot to choose from in a week, but you really don't wanna waste time on viewing any boring, slow moving, drab crap.

Just look at the IMDb score. If you notice it only has a 3 out of 10 rating, you might wanna skip that one.

Currently doing another Cyberpunk 2077 run through and trying not to go all netrunner but go melee build.

 

I'm playing The Eyes of Ara for the 2nd time. Puzzle games like The Room series, House of DaVinci, are my fave games. I like the 3rd game in The Room series best Tesla game is on the way for the DaVinci series, looking forward to that one.

Currently playing the Dark Pictures Anothololgy - Platinum’d Little Hope & House of Ashes but Man of Medan requires an online player for the plat. I’m hoping Devil in me will appear on the PS+ free games list soon.
Awaiting Silent Hill 2 remake + Legend of Zelda releases.

Believe it or not, I stole my nephew's Switch lol. He's big on XBox now anyways. So, been doing a little Metroid: DREAD and Super Mario Wonder here and there for the last month or so. I'm too old and to busy for marathons, lol. The last, last, last (if you've played any Mario in the last ten years, you know what I mean, haha) level is RIDICULOUS with all the badges. But, in a good way, as it were...

 

There hasn't been any great horror games for ages. But I did say things would pick up this season.

 

I'm waiting for Dragon Age. The Wow expansion the War Within just released, and it's okay. I don't hate it. But it's just "more WoW." I don't have anyone to play with so it just feels meh.

 

For over a year now, Goddess Bastet and I have enjoyed talking about survival horror games.

The other day, I found out the staff at Annapurna Interactive quit. The good news is that since No Code are the developers, I don't think the game Silent Hill: Townfall will get canned. But when you never hear any updates on something for ages, it sometimes has you wondering if things are going fine behind the scenes.

It may just be that Konami wants to focus on the SH2 remake, which releases on October 8. And there's the new movie as well, so they're probably just waiting for the right time to begin promoting other stuff related to the franchise.

 

Yeah, this failed. It's way too much fun to zoom in on targets and push some virus into their heads. I'm also too slow for melee builds I've found out.

 

Currently playing Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. Awaiting the Silent Hill 2 remake on disc - not going to be delivered until the 14th.

 

Recently played Pneumata, and totally hated that first boss. Groan. I just gave up.

It wasn't that bad, though. It's about a guy who has to fight these monsters on an island, and it's like RE7 and 8 in that the guy's face is not in view. You do get to see what he looks like in pictures face-wise, unlike Ethan.

 

Is it any good?

 

Goddess and myself will be playing the remake of Silent Hill 2 soon.

 

I feel like all the games I've been playing are all feeling old now. I need something new. I'm hoping to get the new Dragon Age when it come out, but I might need to let someone, or another get it for me for Christmas since I can never the question "What do you want for Christmas" with anything other than the blood of my enemies...

 

Mixed for me. While I enjoyed the gameplay it is also repetitive imo. Once I’d completed it I knew it wasn’t a game I could replay so I’m selling it via eBay.

 

Yep, currently on my 3rd playthrough (2nd on NG+) mainly ‘cause I missed a collectible for a trophy (I was ticking them off as I found them too ). Trying for the multiple endings.
I hope Bloober consider the original for a remake next.

 

Same here. I think they'd do a fine job. I would also love to see original games too. Maybe have like a DLC based series of shorts. Because I always enjoyed the notes where you read up about people and this is basically how Walter was in SH4.

You read up about him in a news article in SH2. In the original game, it's found in the rubbish skip where you retrieve an item after dropping canned juice. So exploring other minor characters sounds like a possibility.
