So Windows Update installed their mandatory KB5043064. After rebooting I keep getting DNS not responding. All my other devices are connecting fine so it can't be the router right? My desktop is the machine in question. Wifi and Ethernet won't work. Got frustrated and did a Network Reset. Still no internet. Did a System Restore to before the update and Bob's your Uncle I am back online. But this is a mandatory update. How am I getting around installing this? Or fixing what's getting broken?

And I did do a Google search and didn't see this problem anywhere.

    A bit more information required:
    Which version of Windows?
What network adapters are being used and which version?

    Try the following:

    1. Update Network Drivers:
    - Press `Windows + X` and select `Device Manager`.
    - Expand `Network adapters`, right-click your network adapter, and select `Update driver`. Or install the driver updates from the manufacture's page.

    2. Flush DNS Cache:
    - Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    - Type `ipconfig /flushdns` and press Enter.

    3. Change DNS Server:
    - Press `Windows + R`, type `ncpa.cpl`, and press Enter.
    - Right-click your active network connection and select `Properties`.
    - Select `Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)` and click `Properties`.
    - Choose `Use the following DNS server addresses` and enter `8.8.8.8` and `8.8.4.4` (Google's public DNS).

    4. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter:
    - Go to `Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters`.
    - Select `Internet Connections` and run the troubleshooter.

    5. DISM and SFC Scans:
    - Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    - Run `DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth`.
    - After that, run `sfc /scannow`.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you might consider pausing updates temporarily until Microsoft releases a fix. You can do this by going to `Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update` and selecting `Pause updates for 7 days`.

Thanks for the reply. I did everything you mentioned before I did the System Restore except #5.
