Win11/64 System Too Slow!

Hi! I've been maxing out my Win11/64 system by performing several file copy operations at the same time, and the system's been performing them very slowly, sometimes taking hours for some of them. My Win7/64 system at a day program seems to do these faster. I could use a fix if there is one. BTW, I prefer Win7's Aero GUI over Win11's.

 

BTW, I'm also having intermittent lockups of some Explorer widows, but if I wait a minute, they work again.

 

Disable defender and all "security" mitigations.
Also, use perigee copy instead.

 

I'm sorry for this, but how do I do that?

 

You could also try looking at what else is running at the same time, and closing what isn't absolutely necessary. I was never fond of Windows 7, which seemed to have difficulties moving masses of files across a very quiet network, but try looking around first.

There are, as mentioned above, other applications that can help move files around. I always liked Robocopy.

By no means would I ever disable Defender, especially if your machine is connected to the 'Net.

 

Thank you. I'll Google "perigee copy" now. BTW, I've been having many other programs running at the same time, but all that shouldn't bog down a modern computer nearly this much. BTW, it's sometimes slow when I'm only doing one copy operation at a time, sometimes down to 0b/sec., and IIRC, I don't always have many applications open at the same time.
