My question: How to embed hyperlinks in "images" posted on Facebook?

I've seen Facebook posts that appear to be images – "photos" – that contain words. But these "images" are not image files. I know this because the words shown in them behave like real text, in that they can be highlighted and copied.

And these words can also have hyperlinks embedded in them. But these Facebook posts are not simply URLs either, and the image shown in Facebook is not the Open Graph Image that is part of the Link Preview associated with a URL. I know this because if you click on any part of the image other than the word(s) in which the hyperlink is embedded, nothing happens. And these posted "images" may have multiple hyperlinks embedded in them, with different hyperlinks embedded in different words.

How can I make such posts?

To embed a hyperlink in an image, select the image in your application (like in Gmail or WordPress), find the "insert link" button (often a chain icon), paste the web address you want to link to, and click to save. For images with multiple linkable areas, use an image mapping tool to define different clickable zones on the image.

    For a Single Clickable Image
    1. Insert the image: into your email, document, or website.
    2. Click on the image: to select it.
    3. Find the link button: (it often looks like a chain) and click it.
    4. Paste the URL: of the desired webpage into the address field.
    5. Apply: or Save your changes. The image is now a clickable link.

    Thanks for answering.

OK, I looked up image mapping tools. One example was GIMP, which I already had installed on my computer. But it creates image maps with the .map file name extension, which Facebook doesn't support for posting.

So, I guess what I would say now is:

Which file format(s) does Facebook support for posting interactive images?

I want to post an image map (an image with multiple linked areas). I know it can be done on Facebook because I’ve seen it done.

Of course, I researched this, but again, found no actual help.
