    Good Morning, day, night, whatever,

Rather than updating to Windows 11 I'm considering changing to a different OS. Been a long time since I've used anything else. We used Redhat in college but dang -that was 25 years ago. I've read a little about Linux Mint. Any thoughts or advice? I'm not a tech guru but not a novice either. Would migrating everything over to a new OS just cause frustration? Thanks!

If you used to windows then I would look mostly at Linux Mint.

There is also a new Linux distro named AuduinOS that mimics the look of Windows 11. This distro is based on Ubuntu Linux with a customized GNOME desktop and was developed by a Microsoft employee.

It also has FlatHub enabled by default, providing access to a vast software library. For instance, you can easily install Bottles, a tool that allows you to run Windows applications on Linux.

Coming to you now live from Linux. I had a few bugs to work out but so far so good. There is going to be a little getting used to but at least I am not buying a new computer. Thanks for everyone's input.

    Cinnamon.
Overall I have to say that I am pleased. I haven't done anything with Linux in over 20 years so I will have to re-learn the command line words. But for general computing it's pretty easy. I still have the same Firefox and since most of what I need is in Dropbox it really has been pretty seamless.

Cool...."As the most common desktop environment for Linux Mint, Cinnamon has generally received favorable coverage by the press, in particular for its ease of use and gentle learning curve. In regard to its conservative design model, Cinnamon is similar to the Xfce, MATE, GNOME 2, and GNOME Flashback desktop environments." There might be hope for this old dog...thanks.

I agree too many command lines to learn.

FYI it's not good option for gaming. steam in particular has issues.

I enjoy my Bazzite Linux box in the living room ;). It replaced an older Xbox One console. No issues at all with gaming on that machine.

As for the command line. Most beginner-friendly distributions are preconfigured and have GUI tools, so you don't need the command line.

Yes, I've discovered so far that I can do just about everything without opening the Terminal. Which -no offense to any Linux gurus out there, we should be able to do in today's world of computing. Windows 95 is 30 years old.
