Computer Crashed

The other day, my laptop crashed right in the middle of doing something. The screen just went black, then the logo appeared, so I thought it had just restarted for updates. Then it said it was preparing automatic repairs. The upshot of it all was that the automatic repairs couldn't fix the problem.

I tried some of the advanced options, but that did nothing. Someone told me to use another computer to make a media creation tool on a USB. The thing is, it doesn't do anything. I put the usb stick in and powered on the laptop. At first, things looked promising, as it said it was loading files. But nope, I ended up back on the troubleshooting screens.

So after that, I thought maybe I should run the media creation tool before trying to use it, so I put it back in the laptop #2 and started unpacking it. I panicked when I saw that it was going to install Windows 11, so I cancelled it. Now, I'm at a loss.

So, I just made this video now to give you an idea of what's happening. Initially, I did putz around with some of the advanced options, but some of them scared me. I noticed it did try to load files even though this time, I didn't have the usb stick in.

The laptop in question is an Acer running on Windows 11.

I'm thanking you guys ever so much. It's gotta be years since I was last here. I remember when I first joined, I was in here almost on the daily, and you've always been a major help to me. I really appreciate you all.

Looks like this laptop was released in February 2021, and the CPU meets Windows 11 minimum requirements. How long have you owned/been using it? Did the fan run a lot before it crashed?

The image in the second link you provided, if accurate, is not the best sign. Windows does not recognize the SSD. Looking at the logo on the splash screen, you have an Optane SSD in this laptop. They are supposed to be very durable, but excessive heat will degrade them faster like most any other SSD.

    Thank you, Mekanic.

The fan wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. All was quiet as I was working away then, pow!

Apologies if this is a stretch, but when is the last time you recall hearing the fan?
