    The above quote is from...
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/co...ng&mid=e8c9fe0e-047e-464e-8011-2059c90dbae7
...and pretty well summarizes the question, but no one there has come up with an answer.
Using XPpro, my Outlook2003 is/was set to open with the 30 day monthly calendar view but lately it has opened with a calendar table view listing all scheduled appointments.
I can get back to to the 30 day calendar view with a few work-around picks but I cant get the 30 day calendar to be the default when opening Outlook.
    Any ideas?
Is there a registry setting that might work?

Well, hopefully I answered my own question.
It appears that if I use the 'Current View' pull down from the Outlook icon menu and pick 'Define Views...' that the view I then pick from the menu list will stick as the default view when Outlook is closed and opened.
So for now its all ok in Outlook land.
    Stay tuned.

    1. highlight calendar folder in 'Folder List'

    2. open (each if multiple calendars) calendar/s from folder and go to 'Current View' (see attachment) dropdown menu at toolbar

    3. click on 'Define Views...'

    4. highlight 'Day/Week/Month With Auto Preview' row and click on 'Apply View' button below

    Seems to stick.

A really good site for everything Microsoft Office, including Exchange, etc. is slipstick.com. One of the oldest and best Office/exchange sites out there.

Update... Re: how to make monthly view the default for Outlook2003 calendar?

    Latest update...

Outlook Calendar - Default View Setup/Maintenance

    1. highlight calendar folder in 'folders' view

    2. open (each if multiple calendars) main calendar/s from folder and click on 'View' at toolbar drop-down menu

    3. click on ' Arrange By', then 'Current View', then 'Define Views'

    4. highlight 'Day/Week/Month With Auto Preview' row and click on 'Apply View' button below

    5. Note! calendar view changes after do 'Search' in calendar, so need to go back and do 1. - 4. again

Another method of searching your calendar without affecting the monthly view is to use Advanced Find (shortcut keys Ctrl+Shift+F) - it's probably on a menu list elsewhere (using Office 2010 now, have used previous Office versions, though). A new dialogue box will "pop up" and you can enter your search criteria and will display the results in that dialog window.

    Thanks for the info !
Found the 'Advanced Find' (2003) as a pull down 'Option' at the right side of the Calendar 'find' bar.
    Works well.
