Weird things are happening this morning in my world lol.....love the shoutbox idea...not sure how you plan to moderate it so that it stays as clean as the rest of the site, but I'm sure you have that all covered too

How can I post to the shout box? When I hit shout, it says I have to enter something first, but there's no entry line. At least I can't find one anyway.

Isn't there a white field to the left of your shout button?

 

no ... it looks like it might be a FF problem. Is that possible? Some of the boxes here don't fit in my browser and I always assumed it was a FF problem, but this is the first time it has an effect.

okay, I tried again in FF, but my Shoutbox screen is not wide enough to accomodate the white box where you enter your text. There's a remnant of the box under the "shout" button, but it's just a hint and I can't expand the screen to make it come out of it's hiding place.

Oh, and TimW is not getting it at all and wants to know why??
could it be his settings?

Works great with Opera gang

 

Increase the font size, via CTRL + wheel mouse, or CTRL +, or View [Text size (Increase)]

 

What screen resolution?

Where is the arrow pointing when you view "shout box". Up or down?

 

Tested the Shout Box thang. Works well on Opera V9. No problems, nice little addition to the board.

 

Tim, you might try logging off/on.

Just a note to MA, I don't think you want the "ShoutBox" used to answer problems that users have do you? I have noticed that a few are poising questions that use to be posted in the threads for all to see and to refer to are being asked in the "ShoutBox". I will PM this to you MA as well.

 

Yea ain't that the truth, just didn't want to step on any toes, and I can see how the Newbies would want to post to the "Shout Box" because of its prominent position on the page. I know I would if it was my first visit here.

 

My ha'penny's worth. You could reserve the ShoutBox to those who've posted 50 times, or so. The exact number should be determined by the owners. By 50 posts, you are no longer a noob to the site, and probably by then, you are also aware of a few of the eccentricities of some of the more colourful characters on this site. The playful jabs, would then be read as playful, and not confused with nasty.

I love the shoutbox, but after just installing a brand new never before had Firefox 2.0, I still can't use the little posting box next to the shout button unless I either change my screen resolution or go to internet explorer. Is it possible to give that posting white box a bit more room? One character is enough to get my cursor in, if you don't mind my spelling errors, but as it is now, I can't even get it in at all. I can try the fix offered to me by someone, but in fact, since this version of FF is brand new and I didn't have FF at all on this computer before, I feel like the FF is probably not the culprit.

Most likely not firefox being the culprit, I'm on FF2 as well, and it works like a charm!
