Can't reinstall or use my HP Image Zone Plus

I'm running Windows XP and I noticed the problem yesterday (along with WinFix 2005 that seemingly could not be deleted...but that's another story)...tried to open HP Image Zone Plus to download some pics from my camera. Got error messages like, "can't locate DocProc.msi" and there were also lots of skins missing, for example, "skin.xml"

anyway, tried to uninstall software from Control Panel....wouldn't respond. Then I unplugged the fax/printer and attempted to reinstall software. Almost all the way through the install, I get a message that again, "it" can't find DocProc.msi on the C drive. Well, I had previously located the file on the install CD so I redirected there and "it" responded by saying that that wasn't a proper installation file. I also received another error message:"hpqWRG An unsupported operation was attempted."

Also, another symptom...related?? Is that yesterday I could not do a Start Application Recovery Program to an earlier point in time (thinking I could fix the Image Zone problem that way).

 

Did you ever find out how to fix this? I am having the same issue.
