    I see two different types:
    HDTV out
    HDTV / S-Video out

    what is the difference?
    ( I was able to plug in a HDTV cable into the HDTV out, but not into the HDTV / S-Video out)

    My Gigabyte 7600GS came with an adapter
    adapting from svideo to HDTV (Y,Pb,Pr) - Green,Red,Blue

    and a vga out

    and a DVI-I (digital monitor) out which also comes with an adapter (DVI-I to Dsub)
    Dsub is just another VGA output

    the two have different slots:

    HDTV out {has big opening on bottom, less holes}
    HDTV / S-Video out { more holes, all same size }

    my graphics card has the HDTV / S-Video out slot, but it came with a VGA converter that can't plug into it, rather the other type of slot that I don't have...

    Heres some pics from the manual for my card
    Note: the HDTV/S-Video out is a bit of a con as it will be limited by the svideo
    1st pic: back panel
    2nd pic: hdtv/svideo adapter (component to svideo)
    hope it helps
    HDTV means all of the top 4 types of connectors (so I've been led to believe anyway)

    PS
    Here is a list of possible connections in order of quality:
    1. HDMI
    2. DVI {DVI-A(Analog),DVI-D(Digital), or DVI-I(Both)}
    3. VGA (Analog computer monitor)
    4. Component (YPbPr) (Red,Blue,Green)
    5. S-video
    6. RCA/AV (Composite)

    I have a gigabyte card similar to yours, and it comes with the same adapter. But... the adapter doesn't fit into the card it came with, only on another HDTV out card. Thats the problem I have.

    What are you exactly trying to hook the card up to?

    Your S-Video is a lower resolution connection connecting @ only 480i which is roughly 640x480 resolution. Your HDMI connector is going to be higher resolution up to like 1080i on televisions and then whatever your monitors native resolution is, it'll display all the way up to that. I believe this is correct, but don't hold it against me if I'm wrong.lol

    What is the model of your graphics card ?
    What is the model of what you are trying to hook it up to ?

    Both of my adapters fit into the card, I only have a crt monitor so I dont know if the 'HDTV' one works
    and the other one is pointless unless you want to hook up two analog monitors
