USB 2.0 not Working

For the love of God, please someone help me. My usb ports on my Acer TravelMate 4010 were working fine. I ran into a problem and had to reformat the HD in it. Doing so, I lost all my drivers that were installed. After fixing the laptop, i found most of the drivers. But then, I got the hi-speed device in a non hi-speed port error for my External HD and my iPod. Everything is running at USB 1.1 speeds and it's severely hindering my laptop's performance as far as file transferring and videos. Transferring large files from the Acer HD to the external one takes forever and updating my iPod takes ages. I know that once the USB 2.0 drivers are installed, it'll be back to normal. But i can't get them from Microsoft because i of the new security validation tool which says that my OS is "pirated" thought i've been using the same XP Pro for years now. Is there anything i can do to get these drivers to install without downloading the SP1 or SP2? I can't install them. And short of buying a new key or OS, i'm out of choices. Please help. My work and leisure are suffering from this.

What type of USB do you have? Meaning is it from Intel, Via, etc?
I did a quick search of your notebook and came up with the following drivers that may help...

or try dl'ing the Microsoft USB drivers update from their site again

I went to Acer and found my chipset. Then I went to Intel and downloaded the drivers. I installed them and now they work. Thanks for all your help guys.
