spybot took three hrs to run!!!

Any one had this problem?

 

What system are you running? On my XP Pro sp2 system, it takes about 3 minutes or so to run it. If it were me, I'd uninstall it and restall the latest version and see where I was. I assume you are talking about the free edition.

 

I am running 2000 on my lap top. it was running it in around 4 min and is now taking forever. I installed the latest with the same outcome. It will run over some files like normal and slow down at others. confused Yes it is the free edition. my tower runs it in 3.

 

I assume you've run a good anti virus. If not, try that. Also, if you go to their web site, you can seek an answer thru email. I've used it and they get back to you pretty quick.

 

I found this in the fourm for spy bot. Lots of people are haveing the same problem. Hope this will help others Thanks jud149

"The problem is with the new "definitions 1.5". If you uninstall 1.4, and then reinstall , but DO NOT download the new "definitions 1.5 "(3 individual updates found by pointing at them and reading the tooltip discription). I found that this brought the program speed back to normal. Another option is to go to Spybot's download page and use their update links instead of using the one inside the program. These "includes" did not slow down my program at all!! Hopefully the Spybot team will have a fix for this problem soon!! Anyway....HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL!!!"

 

I see I'm using 1.4, so I'm gonna keep it. Glad you got it resolved.
