I have 3 cards in mind:

Radeon X1900GT 256MB: cheapest power that I get right off the bat, But SLI or corssfire are not options so it cuts off further video upgrades i will be forced to buy a new card/cards to get more power.

GeForce 7600GT 256MB: cheapest of the three, is faster at SM3 in 3dmark06 then the x1900GT (see here) and SLI is a cheap and powerful option.

    or

GeForce 7900GT 256MB: most expincive of the 3 but also the most powerfull (faster then 2 7600GTs in SLI) and SLI is an option. Looks to be the best gaming option but lacks the folding on GPU support that the X1900gt has so i wont be uping my folding WUs with this or the 7600GT.

one 7600GT now, save up for a DX10 card in the future once the midrange cards come out. Or get a 7900GS

no, all 7 series cards are laser cut except for the BFG 7900GS which apparently uses a different g71 core. google it, there is tons of stuff on unlocking the bfg 7900gs
