Consensus on MSFT Windows Defender

    I see it is used for getting rid of malware in this forum. Is anyone using it as a running tool in the background. I am not sure how it works and am curious on what everyone thinks about it.

    Hi Jerry,

    It is better than nothing, but it is not that good. A better choice would be to buy a commercial program. Even a layered approach of some free tools like the below may be adequate for most people and will be better than Windows Defender:

    After looking at Spyware terminator is this an anti virus program also. I currently have anti-virus AVG free edition on the computer, would I need to uninstall it to use Spyware terminator? I already have Spyware blaster with all enabled and Spybot with immuniztion on all bad products.

    No it is not an antivirus program. It does allow you to integrate Clam AV into the program. I'm not sure this is available in the free program though. See this page:
