Curious as to your "Gender"

Unsure of what you really are type in some text and you can find out if your really Male/Female.(NOTE: The genie works best on texts of more than 500 words.)

Inspired by an article and a test in The New York Times Magazine, the Gender Genie uses a simplified version of an algorithm developed by Moshe Koppel, Bar-Ilan University in Israel, and Shlomo Argamon, Illinois Institute of Technology, to predict the gender of an author. Yeah, 100% on three anectotes I had written on Mg threads sometime ago. I'm a little concerned though. I use all those feminine words.

 

I copied some of my posts from another forum into the box and I was told I was female for more than half of them.

Female, I am not.

 

It marked me as female, something like 550 to 650. I think I'm going to run to my room and cry...

Hey gang all the algorithm does is determine if your writing is in the Feminine or Masculine gender. If you write in Spanish, French, Italian you give the words a "Gender", however in English we do it by choice of words used. It has absolutely NO reflection on your "Orientation" or "Inclination". If you had only Females teaching you English writing you would be more likely to write in the Feminine Gender than a male who was taught by Male English Teachers.

 

Methinks the rules changed.

 

It flagged Avril Lavigne lyrics as male!




Which, of course, was exactly the results I was hoping for.

Well, all but one of my english teachers were female. I always hung out with chic(k)s more than guys. I dated half of the girls I hung out with.. I dunno.. I like women but it doesn't mean I want to be one..lol

I tried 9 of my university essays.

7 of them were declared male, 2 were female... Honestly, I AM a gal!

You're probably right, BCGrey, that it depends on who "taught" you the language. My structure and way of writing was mostly influenced by male teachers, and by my dad.

I tried this post... I'm male! 9 female, 66 male... roflmao (yeah, this was short, the essays were all over 500 words)
