As you know, Vista is being released worldwide on 30th January, 2007.

Some Australian prices are (from Myer store catalogue)

Vista Home Basic 2007 upgrade AUD $199
Vista Home Basic Full version AUD $385

Vista Home Premium 2007 Academic Edition upgrade AUD $179
Vista Home Premium upgrade AUD $299
Vista Home Premium Full version AUD $455

Vista Ultimate 2007 upgrade AUD $495
Vista Ultimate Full version AUD $749

Vista Business 2007 upgrade AUD $379
Vista Business Full version AUD $565

I'd be interested in the UK and USA pricing, to see if us Aussies are being ripped off.

Just checked a currency converter and the retail Ultimate in OZ costs $580 USD. You must have alot of taxes there as it's $400 USD as MS has published and cheaper on the street. Ouch! You didn't mention OEM pricing for any flavour but Ultimate OEM in Canada is $275 AUD

Here you go Bazza, some UK prices

    Covers Retail, Upgrade and OEM

plus they have had the OK from MSFT to ship OEM versions as of last week, so earlier than the full Retail or Upgrade date of thr 30th.

    I already have had delivered an OEM version of Home Premium 32bit @ £73 ( USD143 ~ AUD185 ~ CAD169 )

That's a decent price for premium as it's $150 CAD. Did you get the fancy case as shown?

Nope, it was a DVD clear plastic case and a small guide book but no fancy cases generally come with OEMs, normally they just come in a cardboard CD wallet, so this time at least its a full size DVD plastic case.

I should have converted the prices to USD$ and GBP£
Australia has a 10% GSTax (Sales Tax) on everything. :cry :p

    Conversions are AUD$ to GBP£, multiply by .40 (ie AUD$100 = £40 approx.

    To convert AUD$ to USD$, multiply by .77 (ie AUD$100 = USD$77 approx).

I don't know the Canadian equivalent conversion off hand.

Thanks for the answers, anyhow, guys. Bazza

No OEM pricing available to me, at this time.:p

Myer is a pricy Retail store, but this was the first pricing that I came across.
I have since got another retail store's pricing, but they are within a dollar or 2. Bazza

http://www.xe.com/ucc/ for currency rates at mid market prices off the forex.

Interesting bit on OEM licences from a MSFT source, http://news.yahoo.com/s/zd/20070126/tc_zd/199653 for the geek this is a good way to go as it allows substancial hardware upgrades as it goes against the info out last November on the very subject of having to buy a new OEM licence if you upgrade too many hardware parts or transfer your licence to a new PC ( hope I'm reading that right, but I did read it 3 times ), plus the Family Licence is not unattractive either, dunno if this is USA only as yet as MS UK have not gotten back to me.

Nowt new here as its always the same Bazza and its not a Microsoft only problem, nearly every company or product that it sold in the USA and UK has only it seems the $ sign swapped for the £ sign with NO, USD to GBP conversion done at all, especially as you take into account £1 is = to $1.94 nearly double!!

What problems would you anticipate, if non-USA residents ordered Vista from a USA source, as far as Vista operating OK on non-USA PC's?:p ;)

I couldnt see any issues with that Bazza or none that strike me as a problem, only issue maybe if the disk was damaged, what retailer do you return it to?

If back to USA, thats a cost and time pitfall.

I know Business and Ultimate come with MUI ( Multi User Interface ) options build in to add language options for many laanguages, and Vista has 130+ languages already built in for keyboard layouts etc etc

but for english speakers changing just the keyboard layout to UK or AUS from US is not much of an issue, we had to change XPs from US to UK or AUS.

Hey, perhaps an unopened 'signed' box will fetch a good price in 20 years on Antiques Roadshow. :D

OMG Augie you get Antiques Roadshow in Canada?

I wouldnt mind if it was actually signed by Billy himself but thats just an electronic mass produced signature!

I have a limited edition car but its worth S*** similar to these gimics, MSFT do not do themselfs favours by releasing these sadly.

Yes what were they thinking as when as predicted on every website that Vista wil bomb, that DVD case would be worth a fortune as the signed case from the worst Windows version ever :D

All I can say now is that I'm eagerly awaiting developers to start implementing DX10 and then we'll see what all the hype was about (or not) and this will take a while, as you know.

Will be interesting to see how DX10 pans out. I'm not an avid gamer but I'm quietly looking forward to Crysis and Shadow Run from the screenies I seen they looks nice :)

Halo, we get the Pommie Antiques Roadshow here in OZ. :D
As for that limited XP edition, either it was sold out quickly, or never released, as amazon.com have a new link that no longer mentions it as available. Bazza
