    Hi

The other day my copm froze which practically tnever happens and upon reboot i got message saying H/W Monitor Status Abnormal, check voltage, fan speed and temp stats.

How would I go about checking all those things??

This means that your BIOS detects a malfunction on the hardware of the computer. When you turn the PC on, before you get to boot press Del or F2 for some motherboards (check the directions on the screen). This will take you to the setup menu. With the arrow keys navigate to "H/W MONITOR" or "PC HEALTH STATUS" (or something similar). See what are the values for the voltage, the temperatures and the speed of the fans ( those small ventilators). Tell us what you found and also what your motherboard, CPU, VGA are.

Don't know if I explained it good. I hope it's not very confusing.....

    I think I got everything

From the BIOS H/W Monitor I found this

    Voltages:
    Vcore - 1.42V
    3.3V - 4.08V
    5V - 4.86V
    12V - 11.64V

Temp after letting comp to run for 5 minutes:
    CPU - 37
    M/B - 45

    Fan Speed:
    CPU - 3013
Chip - 5869 at startup but then went down to abot 5818

The motherboar dis an ASUS A8n-SLI
The Vid Card is an ASUS N6600
    CPU is an AMD 64 3200+ 2.01Ghz

    Thanks for the help

These values look like your power supply is struggling. Of particular concern is the 3.3V value which is gloriously out of spec.:) It looks like the 5 Volts is "bleeding" into the 3.3V through a faulty motherboard circuit. Have there been any suspicious odors lately???. There is also the possibility that capacitors may be failing on your motherboard. If you see any that seem to be bulging or are "hot" ( be careful) to the touch, then you've probably found the problem.:)

The motherboard seems to be its usual self...no odor, bulge or extreme heat.

these bad voltages wouldn't be from a bad power supply??

That's right. Power supplies do get old and fail. It's a relatively inexpensive fix, but if you have 3 or more IDE devices attached ( hard drives CD/DVD ) it is usually a good idea to up the wattage with the new one. If it's 300W, then maybe a 350W or 400W power supply would make a sensible replacement.:)

Hey guys, I'm having the same warning with startup. My voltages amounts are all in red as well. I just moved to a new apartment and hooked everything up for the first time here, and started getting this message for the first time.

You resurrected a thread that's over 6 years old (1/31/07). Did you follow the suggestions of Sailor and prometheos?
