    I have a 7900 xfx,intel core duo e6400,1 gb of geil ddr2 800,500 watt antec psu smart power,18x samsung dvd r,gigabyte ds p965 mobo

before i was having problems with just rainbow six vegas going black on me and couldnt see anything but i could hear. Now test drive is doing the same damn thing and ive never ever ever seen this before. Im desperate on to fix this issue! Im getting so pissed off you have no idea, u know? Bf2 lags so bad for me where i have a good ping.

Im hoping this is my issue of ram but 1 gb should be running all of this stuff, maybe my ram might be overheating or something. I just never seen 2 games just go to two black screens after 3 mins in gameplay.

and yeah my card is updated and mobo...

Temps could be the issue, what are all the temps, Mobo, CPU, and GFX if possible?

I believe you can check your GPU temps with the nVidia control panel. It's in there somewhere. Just open it up and run your game. When you start to have problems, alt-tab out of the game and check what temp the card is running at.

What kind of cooling do you have in your system? Did you put the heat sink on the CPU your self? Did you use thermal paste? Simple questions, but you never know eh?

i had a shop do it, but im sure they did it. But i was having the black problems on my other system too.so the issues isnt my motherboard, but i just bought some corsair xms2 ddr2 epp/sli cerified ram. Im hoping this issue is with the ram itself.

    Its pos geil

To check the vid card temps on your 7900, goto the nvidia control panel (right click on desktop and select nvidia control panel) If you are using the latest drives I suspect you are using the new control panel to, in which case do this. On the tool bar there is an option to switch between standard and advanced view, swithc to advanced view. Then on the left hand side it should give you an option to view and maintain temperatures (or words to that effect)

ooo thats some really nice ram you're getting...yea, those games are pretty RAM dependent. although they SHOULD run fine on one gig, if that is only one stick and it is bad in any way it will start messing things up. you can also have speedfan log your temps for u while u play so u can check when u get done.

omfg viper i love u!!! i completely forgot about speed fan!!!

see this is what im thinking here.....

    i remember"sorry,if i said this before" "i cant remember"

bout in 05 my friend bought a x850 those cards were badass at the time and gig of ram. And he said it was laggy then get 1.5 gbs basically 512 mb more and he said it went away.

But if my stuff is overheating cough video card cuz this card is way overclocked " no i didnt" it came overclocked from xfx

from standard its 475 this is 600 core
from standard its 1200 this is 1600 memory speed

no, im not a noob at this but i never ever bought a fan for a card before.

Can anyone hook me up on what to do? if the ram doesnt work im geting it today!!!

are u talking about replacing a video card heatsink/fan? grab something like an accelero x1 and slap it on, they are easy to install. Just unclip the original heatsink (there should be some pin things sticking through the back) reapply the thermal paste, stick it on and you're rdy to go. Dont forget to plug in the new fan though.

XFX does a great job OCing their cards, they push it way farther than the other guys. Id call em up or email them and see if u can get it replaced if they determine thats the problem. Try out your new RAM first though.

Tried the new ram, Its not the processor, its not the psu, its not the harddrive, not my net..... the figure points at that gay motherboard right now! neither my cards cuz it did the same with my 7800gt....

God im so pissed off bout this, i knew when i was at the store i shouldve bought a damn asus striker 680i...someone was like gigabyte is awesome etc! i hate this board!

u should be able to return it, hmm? isnt it still under warranty?

The EVGA 680i board is very good and very popular. The striker got reviewed in MaxPC this month and it got a 9 and a Kickass award but too bad it costs over $300

    yeah i wanted a evga 680i board...

no, compusa is gay about the warranty policy if they dont build it.

It points the figure here now at the board, cuz with my asus a8n deluxe DDR400, 7800, well back then 7600, ran awesome... Evga 680i was designed by nvidia so i know im not getting a POS so to speak. Hey guys heres another question....

I tried to play MGS2 on the pc but when i go to play it im missing everything like graphics. I tried updating it and im theory is maybe my system is to powerful to run it or something. I tried to go into set up and max everything and no luck. Had the same problems with cs1.6 and cs cz with my system being to strong for it. I have to play in D3D....

IIRC you have to set the model slider (or whatever slider has the word "model" on it) down one notch from the top for the game to display properly. Maxing everything screws it up for some dumb reason.

yeah models started to work but the environment still didnt... but thanks for trying. atleast the models worked !
